Tintagels Tea Room & More - Erin

The staff was charming, service was excellent, and the food was outstanding!

We were greeted when we first arrived and given our pick of seating. Our drink order came out right away. Our pate platter and pea meal bacon sandwich with salad took over 30 minutes to arrive. Pate was very good, nice portion size, more crusty bread or bun would be nice. Pea meal sandwich was cold, prefer pea meal to be warm, bun was fresh, good side salad.

We arrived after lunch so pickings were slim. Was hoping for steak & kidney pie but ended up ordering Scotch pie. Pastry was thinking and hard, I prefer light and flakey. The meat looked to be ground beef and greasy.

Visited Erin today, thought we would have lunch at Tintagels we had been there once before with another couple. Since they are usually busy for lunch and with no reservation I went in myself to see if there was a table. I waited at the front for at least 5 minutes, they did all see me, and no one acknowledged my presence. There was someone that came within 3 feet of the wait to be seated sign and said nothing, I didn't exist. There is nothing more annoying than being ignored.Am I being too sensitive? Should I just "chill". Running a restaurant is a business and it is all encompassing, greeting, service and food. I guess my expectations are high, well it's my time and money isn't it.All that needed to be said was that we will be right with you. I left closing the door briskly. But my wife really wanted to have lunch so we both went back in. Waited for a few minutes and I got someone's attention, she was going to say be right with you and I said lunch for 2. We were seated within a minute. I began to learn that unless you are a "regular" or a "local" you are treated differently. The next couple that came in were greeted immediately, then they were asked their seat preference?? What? We were stuck against an inside wall when there were window seats available. Then after we ordered we heard our waitress tell the couple that they had quiche specials, what? We were not told that, they are not part of the menu that I can remember. The other couple were definitely treated far better than we were. I must say the food was good, but very very small portions and no value for money. $14 for a chicken pot pie about 2x2x2 inches I guess you are paying for the english ambiance. Know what to expect but we won't be back for a while.

This business serves a very nice lunch & after the ladies can shop for nice cloths, jewelry, & other items for women.
