Es Mosset De Fornells - es Mercadal

Came here for lunch, managed to get the last table on the outside clearly a popular spot. Madame had the sea bass and I had hake. Both cooked perfectly crisp but still moist. Good potato and veg to go with it. A glass of white, and a very modest bill. Sure, you can pay twice as much if you want, at more pretentious premises a little further north along the harbour, but why would you. This was excellent. Good service too, but not fussy.

Lovely view but the food was of a very poor standard. No childrens menu and the spaghetti Bolognese that my children have eaten countless times in Menorca and loved was inedible for them. The monk fish was also not tasty and an expensive dish. Overall an expensive meal that was of a poor standard.

Called on a visit to Fornells for lunch. Hadn't seen previous scores which probably would have meant we might have avoided. However, all dishes very good and sufficient for a lunch. Included pasta, pizza and salad. Service ok which is the norm for most restaurants. Don't avoid this cause of TA reviews, try it

Waited outside the door wanting a table, not busy this evening yet took a while to get staffs attention not a great start. Waited 15 minutes at the table before being offered a drink ! The food wasn’t bad at all I’ve had better but also had much worse, the main criticism is the staff. What looks like the main waiter was quite pleasant but the rest were absolutely miserable, no chat, no smile just nothing. After asking for the bill this took 10 minutes to come the card machine was brought over by a waiter who took payment without even looking at me nor saying thank you or similar. Needless to say we left no tip, we normally leave a €10 cash tip but felt no inclination in this instance as we were given no reason to tip. Fornells is beautiful, the setting of this restaurant is stunning but the staff need replacing with others who want to be there. I feel if they read these reviews the penny would drop and they would make a fortune. To the owners : Take note of these reviews we want to return to your lovely setting and decent food offering but your staff just need to smile and engage with customers offering advise etc they will earn more in tips and in turn you will be rewarded. Have a meal at Okapi in Playa Fornells maybe take your staff there for training, see how Okapi staff interact there with customers, see how full the place is and the quality of the food supplied and ask yourself why!

Didn't have access to my phone to check restaurants and driven by hungry kids, we stopped in Es Mosset for lunch. Had I known it was rated 35 36 in TA, then for sure I would have encouraged another choice. As it turned out, the restaurant was ok. Other than some dire tomato bread avoid at all costs) the food was acceptable and the bill not outrageous. There are a lot worse restaurants than this in Menorca … but there are a lot that are infinitely better. Sorry Es Mosset, but we will not be returning any time soon
