O Solar De Criaz - Esposende

I highly recommend this place! The waiting staff are really helpful and professional; there was no vegetarian option on the menu so an English speaking waiter came to the table and asked me what I’d like and the chef made a really good veggie pasta. My Dad enjoyed his hake and chips, it was cooked perfectly. The whiskey cake for dessert was also delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, it was full of happy tables. Also, good value overall, for mains, a dessert and drinks our bill was under 30 euro.

A great restaurant in a little village. Stopped for lunch and the waiter was so helpful and spoke perfect English. Assisted greatly with explaining the menu. Food arrived quickly and the mussels and cod cakes was just the right size for 2 not so hungry adults. Overall a good quality restaurant with good service. Would recommend

We were a group of eleven Camino Portuguese Pilgrims who recently ate at the Restaurante O Solar de Criaz whilst staying at the nearby Hotel Contriz. They are both hidden gems! We arrived without booking but were immediately made to feel very welcome. Our waiter spoke English too, which was very helpful while we are only just learning the beautiful Portuguese language. We all had great evening there. The food and wine were outstanding and definitely the best we ate in two weeks in Portugal! The meal was very good value too including starters, mains, deserts, wine and coffees, I don't think it cost much more than €20 each! Thank you very much everyone for a really enjoyable evening!

We arrived as a group of nine without booking. The waiter pushed 2 tables together and was very welcoming. He spoke english and was so polite and nothing was too much trouble. Our group had a tapas of starters melon local ham, patties of cheese and ham, local smoked sausage and prawns. Mains were octopus, veal, cod, and sea bass all beautifully cooked. Bottled water red and white wine and port both red and white and coffees with deserts for some of the group cost about 20e per person. Superb value and every table was occupied.
