However, my recent experience was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. When I visited, Amelio took my order at the counter. Shockingly, they had no bread to make sandwiches at a sandwich shop! When I expressed my disappointment, multiple staff members, including those preparing food, began to berate me. They were extremely disrespectful and rude, openly expressing that they did not want my business. The manager joined in on this customer bashing, showing no concern for my satisfaction. The entire staff's attitude was appalling. They did not care about my experience or happiness. I left feeling stressed, horrible, and hungry. I will never return, and I caution anyone considering this place. If you want to leave happy, relaxed, and satisfied, look elsewhere.
This is one of my favorite memories after school getting a sandwich. Now it's one of my stops when I visit.
Fantastic place to get subs/sandwiches/wraps. Their side salads (macaroni, potato, etc) are really good as well. Boars Head meats are used, I have developed a love for their Havarti Dill cheese, and extra bonus for being one of the few sub shops that still does a sun-dried tomato basil wrap. I always order from here when up visiting my mom, the whole family loves this place and the food they offer. Can get pretty crowded and busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly and don't wait too late in the day to order on those days.
Have enjoyed getting on of the best sandwiches in Vermont at Martone Market in Essex Junction. Big thick sandwiches with fresh ingredients, Boars Head meats and homemade bread are simply The Best in the Area , Unfortunately on today 's visit the service was very poor with no empathy, explanation or apology from either of the staff members we spoke with. They acted like they didn 't care, and we would get our order when it was ready. We came in the store just a few minutes before 1 pm and there was a line with 6-8 customers in front of us. The counter person who waited on us was Cheerful and we placed our order for 3 sandwiches and paid for our order, chips and drinks. After waiting 35 minutes and seeing customers who came in after us already getting their meals, I approached the counter and asked if someone could check on our order. He returned to tell us it would be done shortly. Now almost an hour after ordering my wife went up again and asked about our order since we had just seen a couple come in and place an order and within about 5 minutes had their sandwiches and were eating them. The young women checked and told her they would be next up and true to her word we got them shortly thereafter, but none the less over an hour after ordering. I have never experienced this before and since no explanation was given for the delay, I hope this is no trend, but a one-off problem. We love eating here when we are in the area.
Martone's is a local favorite. They make amazing sandwiches on fresh baked bread and the best BLTs in the world. Make sure to ask for the homemade oatmeal bread! Lunchtime can get very busy. Also, check if they're open before you go, since they don't always have the most standard hours. Nonetheless, it's worth scheduling in, and a great destination for catching up with a friend!
