Asahi is an amalgam of 80 's- '00~s NY/NJ Japanese food. everything above average in taste, quality and priced well.
Delicious authentic Japanese cuisine. I especially liked the set meals. I had the unagi, karaage and ramen set.
(Taken as a copy paste from my Yelp account) This is one of my favorite spots since I was a child, going with my parents, friends and loved ones. Been coming here on and off for years near 20 years. My father actually knows the family since they had a restaurant in another location in the early 80's. Owned by a Japanese couple, though they are getting older. Service is friendly and food is definitely on the large portion size. Wife does the seating and serving, husband primarily does the sushi. Sushi, ramen and the set menu's dinner boxes are their strengths. They do follow more of the traditional Japanese style dishes and side dishes which makes them very unique compared to a Korean or Chinese owned Japanese restaurant with their non traditional sushi rolls and dinner combinations. The restaurant needs some updating, but I am willing to forgo the decor since I know a few years back they were actually looking to sell the restaurant which never came to fruition, so this may had some impact on their retirement. However if they can keep the food level at a great standard, I can live with the decor. (I think they last updated the interior back in the mid 90's) Place is large enough for medium size dinner parties. BYOB. A Service A Food Give them a try! I know you wont be disappointed.
It is a good spot. Good ramen and sushi for your buck. Bit better quality than what you are paying for. And the owner is authentic japanese too. Only downside is that they are under staffed and your food will take a while to be served. Especially if you visit during bz hours.
