Izakana-ya Okuman - Fortitude Valley

This was the most fun I've had eating in a while. A boisterous welcome from the kitchen staff follows quickly with a hot hand towel. Ordering is simple and quickly delivered. The food is freshly made in front of your eyes and the staff friendly.

Used the Groupon deal for four here and order two drinks/chu-hai. The sashimi and sushi were fresh and properly made - it can be told by the shape and the tightness of the rice. Also, the rice they used is not normal rice, which made the sushi a bit special. However, the fried vegetables were not fried properly, probably due to the wrong temperature of oil. The jelly@ didn't taste good either. The service was terrific and superb though.

Very disappointed with the service. So they got a screen where we can select the food and see whether the food is cooked. We have the same kind of restaurant in Melbourne and the machine works really well. However, after we've ordered, we've waited for over 45 mins for the sukiyaki hotpot (where the machine indicates that is already cooked!) I asked one of the staff about it and she said oh it's coming and she didn't even bother to go into the kitchen or machine to follow up about it. Then we talked to the manager, she went into the kitchen for awhile (as it's a see-through kitchen so we basically see everything), and she didn't come and update us or apologise about that. I've ordered rice for the sukiyaki, which I ordered it around half an hour later than I ordered he sukiyaki. Even tho it took so long for the rice to come, it still comes before the sukiyaki. Due to the wait and their irresponsible response, I've decided to leave. When I went to the cashier, the manger said 'so we will give you a 10% discount and don't write negative review ok?' How do you guys think of her attitude in this case? She even walked away while we paid...

Eating here is absolutely amazing and some of the best Japanese food I had. I had the karaage cauliflower curry and sweet gyoza. my partner has the spicy pork ramen with extra karaage chicken. we both gave absolutely every dish we were actually twice here and the hostess/cheese we had both had, was so hospitable and very friendly, from the moment we arrived at the moment when we were gone, I would really recommend a delicious meal and a few beers here! good work damen P.s my photo is halfway through eating, since it was absolutely delicious!
