Bidra med feedbackThe restaurant has seating for about 50 people, and when we arrived at 5:30 PM, there were two large tables and about three smaller ones occupied. The staff appeared to be overwhelmed, but no one warned us that the wait would be longer than usual. After an hour, I inquired with our server about how much longer it would be, and he simply replied that they were busy, without any apology or empathy. We remained quiet, and about 20 minutes later, the manager or owner approached our table—one of her hands covered in fish breading—and things took a strange turn. She began scolding us, saying something like, "In case you didn’t notice, we are very busy tonight. Your food is on its way, so you don’t have to..." At that point, I interrupted her to ask what we were being accused of. That seemed to unleash her fury, and I calmly asked how much our drinks cost, as I wanted to settle the bill and leave. My appetite was completely ruined. She responded, "Oh, you’re paying for your meal whether you stay or not!" We were taken aback and a bit frightened, to be honest. She walked away, and we debated what to do. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant—like we were being held hostage. About 15 minutes later, she finally brought out the mediocre food and acted as if nothing had happened. We ate a bit but were eager to leave. I stepped outside while my husband settled the bill. He tried to calmly explain to her that we were unhappy with the experience, and she threw him out—verbally abusing him in the process. I’m not sure how to process the entire experience. It was our first day in Newfoundland; we traveled halfway across the country to get here, and this was our first impression—this lovely person. The tourism community should be aware of how this reflects on the town. I know I’ll be advising my clients to visit Trinity, stay in St. John’s, or perhaps Marystown if they find themselves in this area.
We love Doc's Dinner! We've been there twice while planning for hockey tournaments, and we can't wait to go back again soon!
During our drive around the peninsula, we discovered Doc's Diner Cafe. I strongly recommend that anyone visiting the Fortune area make a stop here for a meal. The food was absolutely delicious, the place was spotless, the hostesses were friendly, and the portion sizes were generous. We were served quickly, and the coffee was the best we've had in years. Plus, they offer free WiFi. Thank you, Doc's Diner Cafe, for a wonderful experience!
This is a lovely spot for lunch. The waiter was friendly and recommended the daily specials, and the service was excellent.
This is hands down the best chicken dinner I've ever had, better than anything else I've tasted at restaurants around the globe. The staff is also truly amazing.
