Bidra med feedbackWe were seated right away and decided to order some beers. The selection was somewhat limited, so we went with a Sam's Oktoberfest and a Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Ale. For an appetizer, we ordered fried pickles, which turned out to be delicious. For our main courses, we both chose combo platters. I went for KC ribs and pulled pork, served with baked beans and coleslaw, while my wife opted for KC ribs and brisket, along with baked beans and a baked potato. The food was good overall—it wasn't astounding, but it was decent. My ribs were a bit fatty, but my wife's were meatier (luck of the draw!). The pulled pork was on the dry side, but the sauces available at the table added some nice flavor. My wife felt the same about her brisket. We both enjoyed the sides; the baked beans, coleslaw, and baked potato were all excellent. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress Kiki was friendly and checked on us regularly. The prices felt a little steep for what we received, but I suppose that's to be expected in a touristy area.
Out of everything I ordered, the highlight was definitely the chocolate cake. I opted for the platter that included pulled pork, brisket, and added ribs. They provide a variety of sauces at the table, catering to different tastes. I really enjoyed drowning my pulled pork in the sweeter sauce, and I must say, it was still quite good even after reheating it—giving it a nice crust. However, my husband and our friend weren’t as satisfied with their choices, particularly the Brunswick Stew. Overall, the experience wasn’t terrible, but my husband did feel that the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food.
Smokey Bones Jones is a decent restaurant and bar situated right in the parking lot of BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. The bar area is quite nice, although I'm not a fan of the section that's tucked away from the TVs. The drink menu is good, and while the food is better than average, it doesn't stand out as exceptional.
I was excited to eat here for the first time, it was late afternoon so there were only about 5 customers... The waitress and helper were amazing! The cook on the other hand must have been doing something else! It took over 20 mins to get appetizer... then the meal which were simple took another 20 mins or so. I asked the person i was with if this was normal and they said no! It was like it was a packed house, just disappointed in timing. Food was pretty good, too.
This was not the best dining experience tonight. I will start with the dining room was extremely cold. However the hostesses were nice and toasty standing by the fireplace. The waiter was fairly new so he wasn't to familiar with menu. That's Ok! A side salad was ordered without onions and when it arrived guess what was in it.. onions. Returned to the kitchen for one without onions. They must've just picked the onions out that they saw. It came to the table with the ones they missed. Beef brisket was mostly fat.. the lady from another table sent hers back because it was mostly as well. She got a free meal for her troubles. The smoked chicken was very salty. The sweet potato fries had salt on them as well. It had been awhile since coming here and it will probably longer for my return.
