Bidra med feedbackI'm unclear as to why there are negative review here. We started eating at Dekkers when my parents moved out to Fulshear earlier this year. EVERY time the staff has been attentive and the service has been great... ask for Dave, he's one the ball with refills and very accommodating. The food quality is outstanding and every dish I've tried has been delicious. My favorite is their version of shrimp and grits, which is a spicy take on an Louisiana favorite. My hunny loves the gumbo and their rolls with jus are outstanding. To the woman who complained about a bug in her glad of wine... welcome to Texas sweet heart and everyone knows going out to dinner on Mother's Day is going to be an exercise in patience since EVERY restaurant is going to be slammed.
Setup: friend's bday dinner The better: large patio, live music, large portions, very solid food nice rare prime rib, good blackened catfish and gumbo (as noted by a friend from NOLA , sweet steamed crab legs, creamy grits with very tender short rib, decent wine selection and pricing. The lesser: gravel parking lot with no deliniations, separation between dining room and additional back room (extra dining? Party space? is a little weird with the half curtain Observations: upscale casual vibe inside, casual outside (come as you are dress code it seems sort of seems like it can't decide what type of restaurant it wants to be, but I guess that might increase their customer base in a family friendly area
Great restaurant, live entertainment and friendly staff! I've eaten here twice now and really enjoyed the experience. The west side of Houston has always been short of good restaurants so when we get them the are coveted. I strongly recommend you eat on the patio. Even on a chilly night the staff can port a heater to make this warm enough and sitting outside lets you smell the woodsmoke and listen to the live band. Inside is a lot louder and more formal feeling. The food is not superb but it is good. The kitchen tries hard and their specials are always their best items. The presentation is classy and they do a good job with serving 6 or 8 tops. The bar has a well stock selection of craft beers, bourbons and wines. They even have my favorite bourbon, Bulleit. They take reservations and you should use that feature if you have a party of 4 or more. Otherwise you will be in for a +45 minute wait.
I 'm a fan! Found this place on Yelp as we were driving back from from Weimer to Houston. Who knew there were great places (other than BBQ) out in this neck of the woods! Although, I didn 't realize we were just on the other side of Katy! I figured it out after dinner. We ate on the patio on a breezy evening. It 's November, but still not freezing outside yet. They have plenty of space heaters. Fancy ones too! I didn 't get to check out the inside (only the hostess stand), but I would have only assume the inside is just as inviting as the outisde. There are plenty of tables outside for small or large groups. Again, it 's probably safe to assume they have just as much seating inside. They have this one section that is adults only and it 's centered around a fire pit. Maybe they get a lot of kids dining at Dekkers and some folks want to cozy it up a bit, I don 't know. There is a sand pit for kids to play in before or after dinner, however zero toys in it, which I found quite odd. Just a bunch of broken plastic cups. Why have a sand pit without digging tools or anything, but hey, maybe that 's just me??? My only issue with the place. Our group ordered a burger, chicken fried steak, wedge salad, potato fries (to die for) and the kids got chicken tenders. Everything was spot on delicious!!! No complaints what so ever! Just the perfect meal to end our trip back to Houston! It totally hit the spot! Our waiter was extremely delightful and prompt. Around 6-7pm or so, a 2 person band began to play, appropriate music for all. Great dining experience and would highly recommend it if in the area!
UPDATE: Me and my boyfriend decided to go here for dinner and a few drinks to watch the opening ceremony for the Olympics. We were seated in the back dining room and that is when things sort of fell apart. The food quality was amazing, and service was good too however... There was a table of two couples wasted out of their minds hollering/saying rude things and racial comments (not once but multiple times as the countries were being introduced on tv. We were appalled by the disgusting behavior, but didn't hold the establishment accountable UNTIL the manager (who I am pretty sure was on duty sat down with the couples and ordered himself wine. I'm no genius, but I am pretty sure drinking on the job is a no go anywhere. This caught my attention and I was very disappointed. If you are the manager and there is an unruly table making many people (not just us uncomfortable, your job is ask them to tone it down; not give them more to drink and join them! Sorry, but I will not be back unless I am contacted and told that the issue has been dealt with. The manager was a tall, slim-average built man with dark brown hair. He appeared to be in his 40's. This is one of my favorite places. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is so country! Service is always good and the owner is so nice! The parking is also convenient and has never been a problem. Stop by here for a date or just lunch! You will not be disappointed:
