Nate's West End Grill - Galveston

Nates has fantastic, delicious food. New property has improved and refreshed the bar and the dining room. The staff is always friendly. Only on the bottom is that the ceiling is low, so sound jumped back and gives a very loud space with only a few customers inside. You can't hear conversation at your own table and it's hard to even think sometimes because it gets so loud. Unfortunately, it is due to the structure of the building and nothing can be done to fix this.

The food was really good. It seems to be a fav place for locals and families. All pages are a la carte that we found a little on the expensive side $2.99 for a small bowl of potatoes that arrived cold. Overall, the food was good, not unusual, but a great choice for the West End.

Limited wait staff. Waited 20 minutes before waiter asked if we had been helped??? Had to ask for our waters twice. Totally disorganized operation. Bar patrons were the primary focus of staff. Watched several incoming patrons walk out after waiting several minutes for hostess to seat them. Then after 7pm hostess started turning customers away. Food was mediocre at best. Salads came out with the entrees. Waiter never checked on us while I watched her check on her other tables. Ridiculous! There’s several other restaurant choices within 2 miles which I strongly recommend.

Food and drinks were good. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were friendly.
