Overall, the waiter and manager were nice, but I think it's one of those days, thar they didn't get the food choices right. I recently dined at the newly opened Blackwall Barn and Lodge at Merriweather on a Wednesday when they had a half-off pasta special. I opted for the Chesapeake pasta, featuring Pan Seared jumbo Shrimp, Jumbo Lump Crab (although not as jumbo as expected), Asparagus, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, and Lobster Cream Sauce. The dish had excellent potential but was marred by an excessive amount of Old Bay seasoning, resulting in overpowering saltiness. While I enjoyed the meal, I hesitated to alert the staff to the issue because I generally avoid sending food back, especially when it’s half-priced! Despite this, I’d consider returning and requesting the dish without the Old Bay seasoning for a more satisfying experience.

Came here for a birthday dinner for my husband, but I didn't enjoy my meal. First, the calamari appetizer- I have had quite a number of calamari dishes, but this one didn't cut it for me (including others at the table except one person), but I couldn't place my hand on what it was. Then, I requested that the protein in my dish be swapped (no beef or chicken, so I asked for shrimp). I was told I would have to pay for that, which maybe wasn't bad, but the price was what cut me off. I then requested a different dish. Next, I requested roasted vegetables with halibut. The vegetables were which indeed was flavorful, but the fish wasn't, so I asked that it be removed. For the other dishes, scallop and shrimp risotto, Chesapeake pasta, snake bite , crab cake sandwich, they were okay. Although the manager did give a 100% discount on my dish, my crew has requested not to return here.
