The Travellers' Rest - Gedling

Very attentive and polite. Lovely food, fresh and tasty, presented well. The atmosphere is amazing, we were sat near the fire. We were served by Holly, thank you!

An OK place for dinner. Food acceptable without being outstanding in any way. Wine OK, but expensive for what it was. Service was OK too. All in all OK.

The late summer weather brought out a crowd, and the restaurant had plenty of outdoor seating available. The drinks service was fine, but issues arose when it came to ordering food. We were informed there would be a twenty-minute wait, but our food didn't arrive until nearly an hour later after two reminders. It turned out that they hadn't realized one of our starters had run out, which was frustrating to hear. We watched as tables who had ordered after us were served before us, adding to the disappointment. The food was hot and our server apologized, but the delay put a damper on what could have been a pleasant evening. The offer of token refunds never materialized, leaving us feeling let down.

I stopped by this restaurant on a Wednesday evening and it was very busy. The restaurant and bar were both packed, but when I asked if they had a table available, they said they could seat me either in the bar or the restaurant. I ordered a mixed grill, which was cooked well and arrived promptly. My only complaint was that the steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare, had a lot of fat inside, but that's not the restaurant's fault. The chocolate brownie I had for dessert was amazing. Overall, it's a nice place with a good pint of Tribute.
