We visited this restaurant on the weekend with the hope of meeting the dogs. We inquired about their vegan options and were informed that almost everything is vegan, although it is not explicitly stated on the menu to avoid deterring customers. We enjoyed a plant-based cappuccino, vegan pancakes with maple syrup, and chocolate mousse. The pancakes were particularly delightful, and the chocolate mousse was also tasty and well-set. However, the highlight of our visit was interacting with the dogs, which was a truly pleasant experience. It's a shame we couldn't bring one home as there were some truly lovely dogs at the restaurant!
I ordered their vegan meatballs with mashed potatoes to-go (they only offer take-out during lockdown), and it was absolutely delicious! The portion size was generous, so I had enough for dinner again. I highly recommend their food, and knowing that you are supporting a shelter only makes it better.
Even if you're not looking to adopt a dog, it's still nice just to sit here and have a drink. The people that work here are volunteers and the main rule is: the dogs are at home here and we are the guests. They get treated very well and I think that because of organizations like this, adopting a shelter dog gets more accessible for people who don't know a lot about shelters. If you're ever in Ghent you should definitely stop by! (You do pay €5 income, but remember that the money goes to a good cause)
Super-looking and beautiful part, to recommend, and to be lazy and not cooking is a good deed here, because the penny goes to the care of adoptive dogs!
