Bidra med feedbackI lived this place! it was so cool. but something had changed significantly. tinderbox on byres road was formerly stylish and far ahead of the game. now it feels worn and tired, what is really sad to say and that reflected in customer service and looking at the coffee!? where did the tinderbox calling card disappear from amazing coffee art? do you see what was served? tinderbox, please get her mojo back to teach her personal, develop her skills and tap her into her energy, and please fix her sitting, clean and spray her some color?
I stopped at tinderbox because it was highly recommended by people I knew who were before after glasgow. while the espresso was quite great, the staff was rude and very rude when I asked her menu. I don't really think it was as spectacular as people think it is, especially in view of how many caffes are on Byres road. the atmosphere is quite student oriented, playing some pretty big votes, but unlike that seemed very meh.
I'm writing this review because I tried to email and complain direct to Tinderbox but there is no contact section on the website. Shows how little they care about their customers. Went to meet a friend with my two small children. We asked when we...arrived if it was OK to sit in the back and they said yes. Sat on a cushioned bench looking out the window, no table but thought the window would keep the kids amused and the bench was a better seat option for my year old than a chair. When ordered at the till the barista was a bit rude, asking if we were ready yet when my kids were picking cake (despite there being no one behind us). Then my daughter spilled her milk on the floor. I apologised for the spillage and asked for paper towels. The barista made a massive fuss, watching me clean it up but then saying he'd have to clean it up after me because it was a walkway so had to be dry. He then made a fuss of cleaning the bench, telling me Look, I have to clean under the cushion too Later colleagues were tutting as they walked past, and eventually one staff member told my son he couldn't sit on the floor. I eventually said as I left that if you couldn't sit on the bench because it was next to a walkway, they shouldn't put a cushioned seat on it, or they should put up a sign. He told me that his colleague said he'd already told me I couldn't sit there. I said he didn't tell me that at all, all he said was he had to dry the floor because it was a walkway, I didn't realise that meant I couldn't sit there. He then said we could sit there, but just my child couldn't sit on the floor. I said they hadn't been clear and were being very inconsiderate towards us and he just walked off! It was terrible communication. If the seat wasn't suitable for us, they should have asked us to move and we would have happily done so. Instead, they just tutted at us and bitched about us. Extremely unprofessional.
The one star being for I got the food I wanted. Table service nonexistent, I was sitting in. I ordered my food n drinks. Pay before you eat? Maybe if I was taking away. Ordered food and then got given a buzzer to go collect...my order when it’s ready?? Isn’t that what a waiter/waitress is for? Being in level is not an excuse as restaurants are open to be serving food, not away to collect my meal off the chef in the kitchen am I.
Walked in. Male staff member incredibly rude. Decided to take business elsewhere. After reading other reviews on here am glad I did.
