Sunrise Grille

Delicious food and exceptional service made our dinner at Sunset Grill an unforgettable experience! After hearing fantastic reviews from several locals, we understood why this place is a must-visit on Jekyll Island. The fresh shrimp, fish, and oysters were cooked to perfection, while the hand-cut steaks were tender and bursting with juicy, savory flavor. Rob, the owner, was a gracious and attentive host for his evening diners. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

Our meals arrived in about five to seven minutes and were piping hot, contrary to the lukewarm dishes some reviewers had mentioned. Throughout our visit, the waitress frequently checked in to see if we needed anything while she managed her other tables. The restaurant was packed inside, and most of the outdoor tables were occupied. I have to give a shout-out to the cooks and kitchen staff – the food was excellent!

Dining outside against a concrete wall in the back of the building on plastic folding chairs and a flimsy table is not an enjoyable experience. The sides were tiny and lackluster. Not only did they add a mandatory 18% service charge, but there was also a line on the bill for an additional tip. I was simply looking for a laid-back evening with a burger, but I would have had a better time munching on a bag of chips on a nearby bench. While the staff was friendly, they appeared overwhelmed trying to manage the tables. It's a convenient location, but it feels like they're taking full advantage of that.

We visited for lunch and would definitely return. We ordered a crab cake, fried shrimp, and key lime pie. Although the crab cake was a bit salty, it had a great flavor and was packed with crab. The fried shrimp lived up to all the positive reviews. The service was fantastic and made us smile from the moment we walked in until we left.

I had a fantastic lunch! The food was delicious, the service was quick and efficient, and the waitress was incredibly helpful. The portion sizes were generous as well.
