En Japanese Bar and Restaurant

Having not been here before we could have used some direction on ordering. I ordered a tasting plate thinking it would give me a general overview of what's on offer. Most items were overcooked, didn't leave me thinking I would want to come again and explore the menu further. We had 6 at our table and one meal came out about 20mins after all the others. Small portions, 2 of my children needed to fed again when they got home.

Best Japanese cuisine we have had in Adelaide since the demise of Kenji! Decor and fit out are obviously not in the same league as what Kenji was as this is based more on an Izakaya style of dining but the food ( and prices ) more than make up for it! We shared all dishes and everything we ate was fresh, delicious and very well executed as well as being plated attractively. Great selection of Japanese beers and whiskeys and the wine list was a pleasant surprise as well. Staff were friendly and the only small negative I would mention was that the food was a little slow coming to the table. A great place to enjoy authentic Japanese food in Adelaide.

Tried this little place tonight. The service was so slow but the food was so good! I can't make up my mind if the food was good enough to warrant the long wait to go back again! When we finally got served we each ordered drinks, tasting plates, a couple of vegetable dishes to share and rice. The drinks came out first, about twenty minutes after ordering. Then another twenty minutes went past and out came the okonomiyaki. Another twenty minutes and out came the eggplant. Another twenty minutes and our friend's omelette arrived. You guessed it, another twenty minutes and our tasting plates arrived. Just as we were finishing the last of our meal the rice arrived which we had to send back because there was nothing to eat it with!! we arrived at 6.30 and left at 9.30!! The people serving were so lovely, the food was tasty but they really need to address the time issues.

What a find! Starting with entering into a very welcoming atmosphere with a server who was all smiles with excellent recommendations for sake to compliment both the food and our personal tastes. We had the aburi salmon, miso soup and the chefs tasting platter along with the sake. Enough food for both of us and served at a nice gentle rate, we did not feel hurried at all. The bill came in at a $53 which I was so surprised at that I questioned whether they had left something off it! They hadn't it is just an incredibly affordable restaurant.

This is a great place for excellent Japanese food and great atmosphere. Traditional food, attentive staff and good prices. Perfect!
