Bidra med feedbackI've ordered takeout from this restaurant a couple of times (maybe three?). Placing my order over the phone was quick and easy. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable! I gave it four stars because I once ordered a specific side and received a different one. However, it was still tasty.
I ordered two stuffed poblano peppers with rice and beans, but what I received was a sad-looking pepper cut in half, filled with large chunks of boiled potato and sliced tomatoes, all smothered in cheese. When I asked the server about it, she seemed confused and claimed she didn’t see how that matched what was on the menu. When I pointed it out, she suggested it might come with rice and beans on the side. I was in the middle of explaining that I didn’t want it either way when she walked off to the kitchen. When she came back, she reiterated that it can come with rice and beans on the side. I told her no thanks, that it didn’t match the menu description and wasn’t what I expected from stuffed peppers. Her response was a scoff, saying, “Well, then you should have asked!” At that moment, all I could think was, "Please, spare me the defensive attitude." It's clear she wasn't even familiar with her own menu, which looks like it hasn’t been updated in ages. I remained calm and politely declined the dish, along with her attitude. In the end, I had to ask another server from across the restaurant for our check, as she never returned.
**Food:** My wife really enjoyed her steak and chicken fiesta. However, my taco was quite greasy. The enchilada was decent, the rice was fine, but the beans were too chunky and served cold. **Service:** The waitstaff seemed more focused on finishing their pre-closing tasks than on taking proper orders or checking in with customers during their meal. **Prices:** The prices were average for a Mexican restaurant at dinner time. **WARNING:** They are currently in the process of hiring an entirely new staff, so you can expect the food and service to decline before they improve!
Things have changed at Mex Am. I have been going there since it opened but I go less and less. The food quality is not as good as it used to be, seems like the kitchen staff has experienced some turnover. I used to love to go there for breakfast. They had great omelets. But the last two tones I had one they were just scrambled eggs with everything piled on top it was not the way it used to be for sure. Also the last time we were there for dinner on a Tuesday night we waited almost 45 minutes to get our food. They said we are busy and only one cook. Sounds bad from a staffing point of view. Also there are noticeable differences in some of the veggies not be as fresh as they have been in the past. I have also seen a large turnover in staff which is never good. Over all I would say it's an ok Mexican place but there are better for sure. Breakfast still ok, just don't get an omelet.
We had an awful experience here. The food was mediocre and the service was horrible. They forgot half our meal and the waitresses was clueless. The drink were all mixer and the waitress would disappear for 20 minutes at a time.. Now if they were busy maybe we'd cut her some slack but only 3 tables 3 waitresses... We won't ever go back. There are too many good Mexican restaurants around town. Don't waste your time.
