Potluck Boskombuis - Graskop

This is a must. It is hidden and secluded. It's very beautiful and you can go for a hike on their trail next to the river. Only cash or EFT. The food is excellent but a bit pricey. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very safe. Bathroom set up is amazing. Children and pet friendly. Can swim in the river

Perfect location hidden so well on the side of the panorama route. A little bit of gravel/unpaved road after the entrance, it is properly thoroughly rustic, amazing South African food, stunning view, a trail and a creek just next to it, which is perfect for a dip on a hot day, good for kids too. Cash only. Kiddie meal available. Smoking ok. Parking right next to the few step of staircases leading to the seating area, toilet on the other side of the parking area. May not be as nice on a rainny day. Been to quite some places, this is one of the best experience I would always remember.

We were exploring the town of Graskop and then set-off to find the restaurant called Potluck Boskombuis. We followed the road to Bourke’s Luck Potholes and look for a sign that says ‘Real South African Food’ and something about cold beer. So we set off along the R533 and after about 26km turned off at the sign. The road to the restaurant is unpaved, and the bridge across the river doesn't look too sturdy which means busses are not likely to access it. This restaurant is the epitome of authenticity: wooden tables and tree stumps for seating, tin plates and mugs for crockery and beautiful views of the gentle Treur River and surrounding bushveld. The restaurant itself is outdoor only. In fact it's quite primitive as there is no electricity and no running water. Genuinely local cuisine, cooked on open fires and wood fired stove. They have braais (BBQs) made out of truck rims, and a lot of ice to keep drinks and food cool. The food served is fairly simple but tasty, and the location makes it an experience not to be missed. No TV or music, just enjoy the experience with the local children providing entertainment by doing traditional dances at the car park. And Vusi, the waiter who looked after us. What a nice character. Very good sense of humour and very helpful. This is a MUST VISIT place and you will come back again and again

Certainly a 'Bush ' experience with no electricity. They rely on fires and coals to keep food warm and to cook on. That said, the food is good and South African. Well done.

So glad I found this place. A truly African experience. The location is perfect along a quiet stream. No electricity but ice cold beer, and the food was first class. A concise menu which catered for everyone in our party. I thoroughly enjoyed the Springbok sosatie.
