Kau - Greensboro

I recently visited Greensboro to see a friend and her family, and they made a reservation for us at Kau—I'm really glad they did! The restaurant is situated in the Revolution Mill, a repurposed industrial mill. I chose to sit on the terrace to take in the lovely scenery. I ordered the watermelon martini, which was the drink special of the day, along with the pulled pork mac and cheese. Both were excellent. We also enjoyed the spinach dip as an appetizer, which was fantastic as well. While the steaks were reasonably priced and smelled delicious, the mac and cheese looked too tempting to pass up!

The two stars is only for the cocktails and the bacon appetizer. Our service was horrendous and the rest of the food was subpar. It first started when I had made our reservation and made it know it was my husband?s birthday. When they called to confirm my reservation I again reiterated that it was my husband?s birthday and she stated, ?well you need to tell your server because we don?t do that.? When I asked if a bottle of wine could already be at the table. Next issue was our server. Not sure if he was new or not but it was just bad. He was very softly spoken in a loud restaurant which was one of the first problems but our orders kept coming our wrong. I and my friend both ordered the Maria Mule and we got two totally different drinks. We both enjoyed the drink so we didn?t complain. We had to continually ask for refills on our drinks. My husband?s steak was supposed to come with the bone marrow butter and it did not so we had to ask for that TWICE! I was supposed to have the loaded mashed potatoes and I NEVER got that even though I asked three times and was charged for it. The butter came on the side so when I put it on my steak it didn?t even melt which meant my steak wasn?t even warm. Two of the steaks to the table were over done. Two of the steaks had large amounts of gristle throughout the meat which means it actually wasn?t very high quality. Just to make things better I couldn?t even complain because our server NEVER came to check on us. We had to ask for our checks, we had to ask for boxes to go, and again drinks to go several times. We never got our drinks to go and two of the checks were wrong but again?he was no where to be found. Just to make things better we had a party of 6 so our checks automatically had 20% gratuity on the bill, which I am okay with it the server is outstanding. He was not but I couldn?t even complain about the gratuity to the server or manager because once again our server was no where to be found. Another server EIN a different section checked on us more. We also didn?t even get to celebrate my husband?s birthday there but with the lack of quality service and lack of quality food, we didn?t even bother. Highly disappointed.

This place has a very laid back atmosphere. Nice patio area that includes an outside bar as well. The restaurant is kid friendly. The food is amazing and reasonably priced! The Philly Cheesesteak is definitely a hit!!! You can?t miss with that one if you?re unsure of what to order. There was a bit of a wait time when I arrived, just due to short staffing. Other than that, I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat from Kau!

I want to start by saying that this restaurant is situated in a stunning location, making it a wonderful place to dine. The interior is beautifully designed, combining old-world charm with modern elements; I particularly loved the steel and exposed beams. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the brisket mac and cheese, which were heavenly. Everything was perfectly seasoned, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be returning!

While the dishes we ordered were beautifully presented, their flavor was only average. The atmosphere is rustic and spacious, but the prices are unreasonably high for the quality of food. The staff was friendly, but they seemed a bit too laid-back and restless. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Pita chips. Unfortunately, you can’t give a five-star rating for a three-star dining experience.
