Koto Japanese Steak House - Groton

As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we were hit with the strong smell of urine, which should have been a warning sign for us. The appetizer was revolting, the soda was flat, and there was a loud argument between a family at a nearby table. The last straw was finding rancid, sour chicken in my husband's soup. We paid our bill and left without hesitation. It was a terrible experience, and we won't be returning.

We have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years, but our recent visits have not been enjoyable. We always order the same sushi - the spicy crab roll and the peanut avocado roll. However, on our most recent visit, the seaweed on the rolls was extremely chewy and inedible. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they claimed that it was the same seaweed they always use and that no one else has complained about it. Despite our disappointment, they did not attempt to rectify the situation or offer us a replacement or a discount.

This review is specifically for the sushi bar at the restaurant. The sushi was decent, but not exceptional. It may be considered average or slightly below average compared to other sushi options in the area. The rice was overcooked and not well seasoned, giving it a mushy texture and lacking flavor. While the fish was fresh, the ratio of rice to fish was off with too much rice. Overall, the sushi was decent but somewhat bland. There are better sushi options available in the area. Perhaps the hibachi experience at this restaurant is more favorable.

This place has gone downhill. Maybe you can have a different experience. Poor service, staff lacked professionalism. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant left me unimpressed. The Hibachi Chef was good, he was entertaining. But our appetizersarrived after our entree and were dumped on an already crowded table. This place was not busy to be this terrible.

Everything was delicious. I got a shrimp tempura roll to go along with my hibachi chicken and shrimp with noodles. My boyfriend got hibachi steak with shrimp as well as scallops. The price for it was a little steep so this will definitely be a once in awhile food stop. Unfortunately the scallops also didn't sit well in my bfs stomach and I'm not sure if it was how it wasprepared, or because they are scallops haha he also ordered some peach sake which was delicious.
