We had lunch outdoors after a trip to Grisignana, and the charming server immediately made us feel at home. We ordered a house white wine, Malvasia, and the cured ham with olives was absolutely divine. The homemade bread was freshly baked, and we couldn’t resist sampling it with some excellent local olive oil (Gardoš Terre Bianche, Buje). The fuzi pasta with chicken was outstanding (finally served without a heavy sauce! Standing ovation!). The beef cheek with potatoes was the best I’ve ever tasted; the truffle omelet was exquisite: well-made and not drowning in oil as is often the case, with generous slices of truffle cut to a satisfying thickness. The grilled porcini mushrooms from Livada were served on a bed of arugula. Unfortunately, we couldn’t manage dessert this time, but next time for sure! Overall, it was an orgasmic experience for our taste buds! Kudos to the young chef Gaia Zec, just 19 years old, who came in sixth on MasterChef Croatia last year; I can only imagine what she’ll come up with in a few years!
Cozy, calm atmosphere. Away from the tourist hustle and bustle. An excellent starting point for cycling. Friendly staff and delicious food.
