Amazing, authentic Ecuadorian food! Fresh and flavorful!
Is with sadness, I write this review. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a long time however today I had the most horrible experience. The lack of customer service is horrible. The lady at the front desk is beyond rude.
Is with sadness, that I write this, as is not the first time I come to this restaurant. I choose to go and add some pictures for the restaurant. However I will not add any pictures as I was completely disappointed with not only the lack of customer service but the food as well. Aside from good food this industry requires a comfortable and welcoming environment which sadly this restaurant had none. 2 servers by the time my guest and I arrived. A table was dirty two were being occupied 2 were available. However, we waited for 5m before my guest decided to ask if we just sit ourselves. They were doing other things this is the reason I felt maybe they would eventually sit us but 5m wait on an pretty much empty restaurant was not a good start. However I had chosen the restaurant and it had always been good so dismissed that with no prejudgment. I decided to take some pictures and realized I had forgotten my cell. It was not for another 10m/15m that they, once again after my guest asked for silverware and another menu that they came and gave us only one set up. My guest knew what they wanted and I don’t no red the menu as I knew what I wanted. Anyone that knows ceviche knows that fresh is the way go everything is ready to put together but it should never just sit in the lemon as the acidity continues to cook it. I wanted a mix ceviche but they didn’t have one of the main ingredients and although the way the message was delivered rudely from the server to us as she stood behind me and I was trying to turn and convey my order I was pretty much given the option of “Do you wanted or not ???” So I said no thank you I will have the shrimp ceviche instead but no cilantro please, and for all my cilantro lovers out there, I find cilantro sometimes does overpower the dish and I wanted the plain taste, and that is when she proceeded to inform me that the ceviche is pre-made and it sits there to be served and that all the ingredients are mixed in already. I found that odd as is not my first ceviche there and it has never been an issue before and if is sitting there I would rather something else. I did ask her just in case to ask the kitchen if they can accommodate to what I was shut down was told “NO” again do “I wanted or not” so again I found myself yet again changing my order for the 3rd time. I had Rice with Shrimp. The lady from the kitchen came out and I figured I ask aboutI the ceviche to my surprise she started speaking in a loud voice to the server saying why was I not told that everything is mixed and that there are no special treatments. I felt embarrassed and pretty much told the lady that she had informed me and that I had ordered rice with shrimp that I was just asking. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink so we asked if we could just grab it from the refrigerator and they looked at us and pointed to the refrigerator. I thought since I was in an Ecuadorian restaurant that I would get an Ecuadorian Rice with Shrimp, disappointing enough by now with the lack of service and negative attitude, when my dishes arrived on an overcooked yellow rice sat sautéed peppers and onions with some sautéed shrimps. I picked at the shrimps and left the rest. That dish was not what I had ordered and since there was an absence of service I again had to ask for some sauces to make the dish eatable, and for an extra setting as they only had given us one. My experience was one that I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience and I apologize for such a long review but we have limited Ecuadorian restaurants and the far and few in between we should want to keep them at their best to show other cultures our amazing gastronomy. This restaurant has the potential, but has like other good restaurants, fallen behind and lost their touch.
Hidden gem of Ecuadorian food, since I found this place I have been eating here almost everyday and everything I bring someone they love their food. Very good food, well portioned and closest I've had to back home food. Definitely a must if you are looking for good Ecuadorian food
