Cheese Curds Gourmet Burgers Poutinerie

These guys serve incredible burgers. It's like Halifax Burger Week all year round! We were truly impressed by the variety and the quality of the beef, which was full of flavor. Their fries are also fantastic. I haven't even tried the poutine yet, but I have every reason to believe it would be delicious and indulgent. This place is a bit pricey since Cheese Curds specializes in gourmet burgers rather than fast food. By "expensive," I mean that you should expect to pay more than you would for a regular fast food meal, but it's not outrageous. We'll definitely be coming back!

The cleanliness of the restaurant leaves much to be desired. Many tables were unavailable and were haphazardly stacked next to the ones that were open. Food crumbs littered the tables and the floor around the few available seats. On a weekday evening at 7 PM, it took 15 minutes from the time I ordered until I was called to add toppings to my burger. Although there are options to order online or through an app to avoid this waiting time, I opted for in-person ordering. The additional toppings didn’t appear very fresh either. I found the price of $20.41 for a cheeseburger and a regular poutine to be on the higher end for fast food. The taste was decent, and the curry sauce offered an interesting twist on the burger. However, I was concerned to see that none of the staff members were wearing masks during our visit on April 6. On the positive side, there was plenty of parking since it’s located in the same plaza as Sobeys.

The food is satisfactory, but I can't recommend this restaurant due to the owner's decision to exploit foreign workers instead of paying their employees a living wage. It's frustrating to hear them complain about difficulties in finding staff when they offer such low pay. In response to the owner's reply: It's possible to reduce your profit margins in order to pay your employees a fair wage. You own several establishments; raising prices isn't the only option. It shouldn't be a choice between exorbitantly priced burgers or letting your employees go hungry.

I've had a fantastic experience with the service during my visits for dinner! While the wait may be a bit longer, I much prefer that over receiving food that doesn't even come close to the quality I've found elsewhere. Everything has been delicious and fresh, and it's reassuring to know that the food isn't just sitting under a warmer. The initial phase of a new business can always be a bit of an adjustment, but they are doing an excellent job since their opening!

The service and food were outstanding. We will definitely be back!
