Sea Smoke Restaurant Bar - Halifax

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant after taking a stroll along the coast. The server was friendly and provided excellent recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed all the cocktails we sampled. The appetizers were fantastic; I highly recommend the Tuba Crispy Rice and the roasted somes. The sushi was decent, but not exceptional. The service was a bit slow, causing us to wait longer for our food. We chose to sit outside by a fire pit, which added a nice touch to our experience. Overall, it was a good outing, and I'm glad we came, although I wasn't too thrilled about the size of the bill.

I visited the restaurant with a large group of six people towards the end of the evening, and the staff was incredibly accommodating in seating us for a full dinner, even though they were likely looking forward to closing soon. The fire tables created a lovely atmosphere. Many guests seemed eager for the complete surf experience, but with two cruise ships in port, the menu was a bit limited. However, we were fortunate to enjoy some delicious lobster. The cocktails alone made the visit worthwhile, but the steak and sushi truly exceeded our expectations. The service was exceptional, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Considering the challenging tourist location and view, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. I will definitely return the next time I’m in Halifax.

As for the food: the Filipino pork was exceptional, earning a 10/10. The lobster mushroom scored a 3/10; while the flavor was acceptable, the filling was dense, dry, and lukewarm. The Korean chicken received a 6/10; it had a good flavor and a nice crunchy coating but was overcooked and dry, needing more sauce. The Atlantic Roll was excellent, also a 10/10.

We had a nice experience at Sea Smoke Restaurant Bar during our visit to Halifax. We requested an early dinner reservation and they were able to accommodate us on the terrace on the shore. It was a bit cool and windy outside, but they delivered us blankets and fired the fireplace. The staff was very friendly and diligent. We even had a nice chitchat with the manager. Overall, the food was very good and the portions were satisfied. It was a tad expensive, but, given the situation and quality, I think it was reasonable. We also tried and enjoyed some of their drinks. But even if there is a ?happy hour?, the options included were a kind of reason, so we skipped it.

First impression is when the host welcomed us at the door. Her big smile and the way she greets us were lovely. We ordered two dozens of oysters, a seafood skillet, mussels, sashimi and sushi as well. Everyone in our group was satisfied with the food and its freshness. We love the vibe too. We finished the meal when the sun went down and the lights were turned on. The patio outside looked amazing at that moment. Though the wait was a bit long, we definitely come back the next time we go to Nova.
