Bidra med feedbackSeems like a good place to stop in for a pint after work. Only been twice. Male bartender is very good and efficient. This evenings pint was cold and nicely poured. One waitress was laughing, loudly alot; another was reading their social media, out loud, to other waitresses. Very distracting.
So I am wandering around Spring Garden Road on a vacation out in Halifax. Plenty of reviews are on this place, but I ask around on the street 'What would be a cool local bar to go to? '. I wanted to not be in a tourist area, and wanted more of a local feel : . Someone pointed me out to the Fickle Frog. Cool. I walk to it and in. In here was a really good group that had a sense of community. People were super nice and friendly. I was introduced to people, even exchanged numbers with someone I thought was pretty cool. I was served first by Kelly who told some awesome stories and had good personality. I was also served by Craig (hope I got it right, guy with the beard , he gave me local tips on bars I could go to later in the night, and he was point on and really a great server. I don 't think that this place wants tourists to take over lol. But if you go in humbly and show respect like you would in your own backyard, I would suggest a nice pint here while you are by the Garden. Enjoy Life! Peace to the people in the bar!
I popped in for a drink on the outdoor patio. There was only one staff member working, so we had to go up to the bar to order our first drink. The drinks were tasty and the patio had a nice atmosphere, perfect for people-watching. We also tried the sampler platter, which was excellent! My favorite part was the onion rings. I definitely plan on returning!
I always make sure to grab a seat at the bar whenever I go to the Fickle Frog. I enjoy chatting with other patrons and catching some sports on TV. The bar staff is friendly and attentive, and if there's no space at the bar, the table service is just as great. The food is fantastic, and with the open kitchen right next to the bar, you can see how clean and efficient it is run. I recently tried the lobster roll and it was amazing - packed with lots of lobster meat. Next time, I want to give their burger a try. I was seated next to someone who ordered it, and it looked and smelled so delicious that I almost changed my mind about getting the lobster roll.
The Fickle Frog is a go-to spot for affordable beers on Spring Garden. While it has undergone changes in ownership and management over the past year, it has returned to its roots as a beloved discount pub on the main street. Keep an eye out for daily beer specials and enjoy the friendly service. The atmosphere is not extravagant, but it gets the job done. The menu offers some tasty options, though they may not be as budget-friendly as the drinks.
