New China Buffet - Hallandale Beach

Great selection... seemed like it would never end!!

My brother and I love Chinese food. This was the worst we have ever tasted. To continue. The presentation was messy, and the warming plates it was on were not powerful enough as most of the food was cold, even the rice dishes, which, kept luke warm under such conditions is a recipe for food poisoning. We were tempted to go there by the offer of the 'sea food buffet ', which turned out to be non-existent, with a tray of ice containing a few shrimp and some mussels, which, incidentally, turned out to be warm, and had the most peculiar taste. To be fair there was some cooked seafood there, but it looked as though it had been there for a week or more, looking tired and terribly over cooked. None of the dishes we took we finished, and my brother tasted cigarette ash in one of his. It seemed such a shame as a while back this was reviewed in the local press as a 'come back ' from the old China Buffet, with a 'vast selection of seafood ', fine wines (we were offered sauvignon blanc, chardonnay or merlot) and a range of beers (these we did not see and were not on display). On the cleanliness front, a lot was left to be desired, one only has to take a look at the reception to wonder what the kitchens must be like. The food containers were messy, without the gleam of the stainless steel one is used to in buffet style restaurants. Not to mention that half of them were empty and we saw no attempt to refill. The service was sloppy, in fact, non-existent too. All in all, we would not recommend this place to anyone. Keep a wide berth.
