Bidra med feedbackAt first try this Lao Thai restaurant in Haltom City and I was impressed! The drunk noodles were one of the best I ever had. Be careful with the spicy level. I had 3/5 and the heat wasn't a joke.
The food from this little dive was amazing! Bold flavors and very fresh. I had the Thai Green Curry and my partner had the pineapple french. The curry was something of the best I ever had and the roasted rice was delicious. By the way, the spice level on the curry was great. If you like the heat, go with stage 7! This is authentic Thai food and I loved seeing all the ladies in the kitchen that makes everything from scratch. The service was friendly and fast as well. We'll be back!
My family had eaten here numerous times and always enjoy it. The restaurant went thru different owners but the food consistency remain somewhat the same. Now it seems things have changed. I placed an order for papaya salad and tom kha among other things. I was beyond disappointed when I got home. The price went up while the portion got smaller. I don't mind paying for good food but it's outrageous when the portion is small. The papaya salad was barely a handful as seen in the picture but charging a whopping $10. The picture actually makes it seem more but it's a small small small portion. The soup was barely over half of the container. We will not be eating here again. This place is a disappointment. The quality and quantity of food have diminished. Don't waste your time here. You will only be disappointed. There are plenty of better restaurants that gives better quality and quantity of food.
The good: good service, very friendly and nice staff, good hot chillies; fresh chopped for extra hot dish. Fresh basil! The bad: ribs appetizer only tastes very salty with no other real flavor even though it came with lots of garlic, must have scorched or overcooked the garlic. Red curry was unbalanced and was over salty as well. Lacking the creaminess from coconut milk, the sweetness from sugar, and not enough red curry paste. Massaman curry had a grainy consistency that was a little off-putting although the flavor was good. Conclusion: seems like a place with lots of potential, maybe complacency has gotten to the cook because the ingredients are mostly good but the preparation and flavor and balance was missing. It does not taste like anyone is tasting the food going out to adjust before it is served.
I ordered the pad woonsane and it was so savory, perfect for a light yet filling lunch. The ambiance is cozy and the servers were really kind and attentive. I found my new favorite takeout place.
