Short trip to Hamburg, this time the Blue Man Group Show in the “More!-Theater am Großmarkt” in the Hammerbrook district. Location On a six-lane main road towards Elbbrücken, opposite the Jet petrol station and MacDonalds, simply on the Amsinckstraße, which is covered by an S-Bahn bridge, in the old Hammerbrook district there is something hidden, but a small oasis, the “Al Lido”. The car park offer is a real pleasure for drivers. There are many parking spaces right outside the door. You also need it because you don't go in this area, but you drive to the restaurant. On foot, guests come from the surrounding offices and especially in the evening from the big hotels near the theatre, just like us. From the outside, the restaurant looks a bit unsightly because the front still remembers the entrance area when the grounds housed a shipyard, which was later rebuilt into a workshop of Deutz and repaired ship engines here before the plant was converted into a restaurant in 1999. In the dark we couldn't see much from the terrace directly on the fleet with boat docks. Ambience Inside, an interesting restaurant with open kitchen was designed on the right side of the entrance, with the former industrial complex. The restaurant is quite rustic furnished with well maintained industrial design. The intended design of the walls with the partially exposed masonry, with ceiling cranes, factory lights and iron beams, clearly recalls the origin of the premises. The premises have their own charm, although it can be somewhat louder by the high ceiling when it is fully equipped. Light wooden tables with calender legs and covered with gray-white carded fabric table top, then salt shakers and pepper shakers and a small glass wind light, as well as the dark wooden chairs with white padded synthetic leather seat underline the rustic overall impression. The old factory arm is very attractive. Service When we came to the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and led to the reserved table. In dealing with the guests we experienced all service owners (women in service we did not see so very friendly and easy to be without distance. Everyone had an overview of what was happening, worked hard and safe to contact the guest. In the meantime, it was asked whether everything had its order and the like was quickly deleted, cleaned and re-covered as soon as a table was released. In addition to God, thanks to the clear standard menu lunch dishes (pizza or pasta for 8,50 € and a meat or fish dish for 10,50 € as well as daily specialties are offered. On the homepage it is said that “almost exclusively ingredients from regional cultivation or directly from Italy are used”. We like that. With the transfer of the menu we ordered immediately (as almost always two alcohol-free wheat beer from Franciscans at 4,50 € each) which arrived well cooled with us. Regarding food, we decided quickly: Insalata Al Lido (9,80 € for both mixed salad Parmaschinken Tuna Mozzarella Pecorino Bistecca al Pepe Verde (17,40 € for my husband Grilled Rumpsteak Cognac-Pfefferjus seasonal supplement Filetto di Manzo al Pepe Verde (20,80 € for me) After the order there was a small attention of the house, small, small, warm, warm, warm, hot pizza. A very pleasant entrance, because the pizza rolls were slightly crispy, inside fluffy, the quite large olives aromatic, the Aioli creamy and not too crispy. ****! Although the restaurant was full, we didn't have to wait long for the salad. And he looked good. Insalata al Lido (9,80 € – Mixed salad with many rockets, tuna, mozzarella, pecorino and parma ham The various leaf salads, cucumber and tomato slices were well mixed with a spicy, well-tuned Balsamico olive oil, which only dresses our taste, in it a hint of sweetness. Pecorino, mozzarella, tuna and parma ham of good quality. The waiting period for the two main dishes was not too long. The supplements were the same in both courts. Bistecca al Pepe Verde Grilled Rumpsteak Cognac-Pfefferjus seasonal supplement Filetto di Manzo al PepeVerde The Rumpsteak and Filetsteak were without tadel in quality and preparation, with my husband as the desired Gargrad medium, with me medium rare. My husband was just too excited about how tender the flesh broke on the tongue. The Cognac-Pfeffer-Now intensively and vigorously, but not too strongly "puffed". Also my fillet steak had a strong meat taste, was tender and liked the taste nerves in combination with the pepper sauce really good. The vegetables were crunchy fresh, particularly delicious carrots that were caramelized with some sugar and very tasty by the light sweet tone. Potatoes not worth mentioning, stop potatoes! Conclusion: Solid Italian cuisine with soil and simple dishes, relatively unspectacular. Our recommendation!
