Bidra med feedbackThis time around, we felt that the food didn't quite meet the expectations we had from our previous visit, which had been better than average for a pub. The Bermuda fish chowder was adequate, but the portion was small and it was warm, rather than hot. My cheddar and apple salad had plenty of cheddar but was lacking in salad, making the portion seem inadequate. As for the local fish dish my partner ordered, while it was cooked well, the side it came with had a strange texture. His apple cake, part of a three-course meal, was disappointing and not indicative of the quality you'd expect from a food establishment. Despite these issues, I might give it another try, as it could have been a post-COVID hiccup. Interestingly, the barracuda we had earlier that week was much better and it’s from the same restaurant group.
Two orders were placed. The food was decent, but there wasn't much cheese or other toppings on them. At the end of the meal, when we asked the server for help in getting a taxi, he replied, "I'm new, I don't know," and then walked away.
It's always a pleasure. we have come here for many years and it is about special occasions.
I always like the Hog Penny for their pub food. Went on St Paddy's day hoping for something traditionally Irish but they didn't have any specials, which was a little disappointing. Staff were nice, as always.
It was ok. We did not realize it was trivia night when we booked, which turned out to be very fun. However, upon our arrival the front desk man got a bit unwelcoming when we had 8 people instead of 7. He actually took out his cell phone/ the open table app to show me my “error”. Really? Ooops! I really thought I had booked 8. We were traveling with eight people why would I have booked 7??? We didn’t understand what the big deal was. We had a big table....just add another chair! Despite this and the ok food this time (avoid the dry chicken pot pie) we had a nice evening. Waiter was very nice. This was our 5th visit to The Hog Penny, so we know this was not typical but next time I would be inclined to leave after such an interaction and go back to Marcus where the guests are always made to feel appreciated, even if you make a mistake in your booking!
