Tropical Taco - HANALEI

The restaurant's closing hours may change if they sell out of food or have personal obligations. Just like everything in Hawaii, it's always good to have a backup plan! The tacos are excellent!

The daily specials are a must-try at this restaurant. During my visit, I opted for the Baja shrimp tacos which were delicious. The shrimp were battered and fried, served with Baja sauce, pineapple salsa, and shredded cabbage - a perfect combination. I also asked for extra Baja sauce, which they were happy to provide. The rice was okay, but the second time I had it, it was more seasoned with a Spanish/Mexican flair, adding to the overall experience. The real star of the show was the fillaco (taco), which was truly outstanding. If I ever find myself back in Kauai, I will definitely make a stop at Tropical Taco.

Every time I visit Hanalei, Kauai Tropical Taco is a must-visit restaurant. They may be busy, but they are quick and always cheerful!

I saw a few reviews with lower reviews and I can't imagine they came to the same restaurant. this place was wonderful during our stay here on the north coast of kauai. eating is very fresh and tasty and the service is exceptional. it is a family-run place where they put their hearts in the food and I will tell them that we really enjoyed the hospitality and quality. definitely worth a visit while they are on the north shore.

One star for the nice girl at the counter and one star for the 9$ taco with the store bought uncooked corn tortilla with the stick of unseasoned firm fish (not fresh) and a LOT of green filler. Salsa on top was pretty but tasteless. I never salt my food but even after I did this time I didn’t finish. Small almost tasteless taco …skip this place. FYI….I should have left when I saw many not finishing their food. My companion had the two taco plate for $19 and he felt the same. It came with 3 chips and a tiny amount of refries and tasteless rice. The best thing was the refries and the 3 chips.
