Bidra med feedbackWe had a fantastic time at this restaurant. The website recommends reservations, but we were fortunate to find an available table without one. We called ahead to confirm our reservation. The service was excellent and they were very accommodating to our toddler. The food was delicious, though a bit pricey in our opinion. The standout dish for us was the mashed potatoes, which were the best we've ever had. It may sound trivial, but it truly stole the show. We would return just for that alone. It appears that the menu changes, so it would be worth trying at different times of the year. Overall, it is definitely worth a try!
We had a fantastic dinner at School House. The food was excellent. I ordered the duck and it was cooked to perfection. The chef even took into consideration my dietary restriction and prepared my dish without dairy. The waitress was attentive and well-informed about the menu. Overall, it was a great dining experience!
Located just a short drive east on Rt.123 in Harpswell, our party of 3 had reservations at the Old School House, now owned by Chef Joe Arena and Chris Gardner. Our server, Sophia, presented us with a selection of red wines ranging from $26 to $130 per bottle. I opted for a Maine beer from the over 15 selections available. The appetizer choices were intriguing, such as Parmesan Tempura Fried Pumpkin, BBQ Heirloom Carrots Broccoli, Hand-breaded Calamari, and Fresh Baked Focaccia. When it came to choosing our entrees, the decision became even more difficult with options like Grilled Salmon for $35, Ale-braised Short Rib for $34, Eggplant Ratatouille for $30, Braised Lamb Shepherd's Pie for $34, Moulard Duck Leg Confit for $34, and King Prawn Orchiette Pasta for $31. Our dinner was absolutely delicious, although we unfortunately didn't have room for desserts this time. However, we definitely plan on returning for another farm-to-table meal prepared by Chef Joe. Reservations are recommended, and it's advisable to check their website for menu selections and opening hours as they have limited operational days. While the view out the windows could use some improvement, the service from Sophia was courteous and efficient. We can't wait for our next visit to the Old School House! Thank you.
Such a lovely place. Amazing food, great atmosphere and fantastic service. Special thanks to the kind man who greeted us at the door our lovely French-speaking Irish waitress. We'll definitely come back.
I’ve been a part-time resident of Harpswell for nearly 50 years and so happy that at last there’s a wonderful restaurant that isn’t all about lobster and chowder. The schoolhouse itself makes for a lovely place to dine, and the service and food were first-rate. We especially enjoyed the home-baked bread and calamari and shared the salmon entree that was prepared to perfection.
