Bidra med feedbackLooked forward to a nice Sunday roast after some positive reports regarding the food. I must say we were very underwhelmed, although the portion size was generous the food lacked any flavour and felt like it had been reheated poorly. Certainly will not be visiiting here again as actually felt unwell in the evening.
I haven't visited this restaurant in a long time due to Covid-19, so today was my first visit in over a year. We couldn't have asked for better weather, as it was warm and sunny with a gentle breeze. In our group, there were three adults, three children, and a 17-week-old Labrador Pondenco X puppy. The Old White Horse did not disappoint, with excellent food and extremely welcoming staff, who even greeted our new dog with open arms. The beer garden is spacious enough for any dog to explore (on a leash, of course), and it offers a beautiful view of the sunset with fields behind it. The pub currently has a limited menu, but there was still a good selection and generous portion sizes, especially the massive onion rings. Avril, the owner, is a lovely lady who is always friendly, polite, and cheerful to chat with. Since we live nearby and they are dog-friendly, we will definitely be returning.
Praised by locals, we decided to try this restaurant. There are three seating areas available - one by a busy road, one near a worn-out trampoline overlooking the porta-toilets, and another occupied by a group of young men smoking cannabis. The garden is littered with old mattresses and trash, making it uninviting. The food was mediocre, with some vegetables served cold, tough and overcooked beef, and a decent-sized Yorkshire pudding. At £14-15 per main course, it did not seem like good value for money. However, the standout feature of the experience was the friendly staff.
I recently enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch takeout with generous and flavorful food, along with a complimentary drink. The service was excellent, and I look forward to returning for more.
Seeing as I don’t live too far from this pub, I thought i would check it out... Firstly, the beer garden is very big, but could do with some work (particularly at the back) as some of the benches and trampolines were broken. There’s an area in the beer garden where you can order bbq cooked food which was cool. Extra toilets located outside was handy (especially for those who don’t want to be inside the pub for long). Saved us walking back to the pub every time we needed a toilet. I must say, it was very difficult for them to find us a menu. We weren’t given a menu despite asking the first time and it was only after the second time we asked that they manage to find us one which wasn’t ideal. When receiving our food in the beer garden, we were served our food before we got our gravy (so the waiter had to go back to the pub before we could complete our meal). Due to the distance and time we had to wait for this, some of our food got cold. Overall, prices were standard, decent little location, big beer garden, staff were friendly enough and the food portions were good. Overall not a bad little pub.
