Be prepared to wait, and to overpay. The good news: a chic vibe and quality live music on a Saturday night. The bad news: panicked, overtaxed staff who argued with each other where guests could see it; 30 minutes before the drinks arrived (which were never refilled all evening); an hour before the appetizer came, and main dishes that were forgettable at best. It takes some chutzpah to serve a small, shake-n-bake chicken breast over iceburg lettuce, with nothing else on the plate, and charge $25. The pasta tasted bland and canned. We could only guess that most of the other tables were also filled with out-of-towners who didn't know the score before choosing this place. For their sake, I hope we just caught them on a bad night when the chef had called in sick and the rest of the wait staff were filling in at the grill to keep it open. Sorry we dropped nearly $70 there (with no alcohol on the tab). But we wish the guitarist all the best for a very nice set.
My wife and I had heard very positive things about Sylvania Social so we decided to celebrate our anniversary there last Saturday night.......the restaurant itself is very quaint and intimate......the staff was friendly .....the menu is very unique and interesting......we started with the pork belly appetizer......the meat was crispy and the sauce was excellent......we also had salad with lentils which was fresh and we loved the dressing.......my wife had the lamb lollipops and I tried the scampi......the lamb was cooked as requested and tender and the scampi was different than any I had had and really quite good......we finished our night with a crepe .......overall it was a very enjoyable evening and we were so glad we gave the Sylvania Social a try........
An absolute must if you are in the area. It would succeed even in Philadelphia. Cozy but not quaint! Cocktails are superbly mixed by the bartender; food offerings are novel takes on classic modern fare. Don't think portion sizes suffer due to the quality ingredients and thoughtful recipes. Staff is hands-on and want to make your stay memorable. We had a party of eight and they still nailed everything.
Exquisitely delicious food, especially the Beast Burger (which is my favorite). Made with elk, bison, wild boar and Wagyu beef, every bite is a taste adventure. The presentation is impeccable and the environment is like no other place anywhere around. I've become a regular there, and so will you after your first experience.
