Del Taco - Hawthorne

Del Taco has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for over 40 years. I always rely on their consistent menu and delicious food.

I returned on 1/31/20 for another visit and it was just as impressive! I decided to be a bit adventurous this time and tried the Craft Tacos (fish and steakhouse). The Baja fish taco was delicious, topped with pickled onions and guacamole. Priced at $2.89 each, I think $2.59 would be more appropriate. It’s just a small difference, but it would be nice. The fish had a great buttery golden crunch without being overly flashy, which is just what you want from a fish taco. The steakhouse taco, on the other hand, was a bit of a mess. I can't hold this against the restaurant, though, as they often work with less-than-stellar ingredients. After all, Del Taco is a fast food joint, and fast food places often bite off more than they can chew (except for the double Del Cheeseburger, which is a national treasure and worth every penny). If you're lucky enough, you might have Daisy helping you out – she's fantastic!

Overall, it was an almost perfect experience. The Guacamole Burrito was incredibly fresh and delicious. The red sauce was excellent, surpassing my previous visits to Del Taco, and it was generously sprinkled with fresh cilantro. The only downside was that there was a bit too little guacamole, mainly concentrated at the bottom. However, I was in and out in about 90 seconds, which was impressive. The staff member at the microphone and payment station was polite and efficient. Great job overall!
