Bidra med feedbackI would sincerely doubt that the previous reviewer had ever been outside of Wisconsin much less a world traveler if both the expense and portion size were so attrocious as to elicit a review like that about of one of the greatest undiscovered restaurants in the midwest. While I 'm certain that Jonny would prefer the sald bar and the portions at the Timberlodge steak house i 'll take Chuck 's excellent ingredients and perfect execution on a wide variety of dishes. We have been back numerous times as have many of our friends. I have never heard a bad review nor a bad word spoken either of the food or the price. I more often than not have come away feeling like it should have been way more. They do the typical northwoods fare-allbeit quite a bit better than most- but have a number of dishes and changing menu items that we will continually go back. BTW world traveler their desert menu is one of the most reasonably priced in the area- and I have compared. Unless you are comparing it to the kiddie cone you had at mcdonalds last week, which wouldn 't supprise me. I 'll take chuck 's profiteroles instead.
This is one of the best meals we have ever had. We are so happy such a great place has arrived in the Northwoods!
We are so happy a restaurant with true fine dining cuisine is here in the Northwoods.
This restaurant rates at my most lowest ever experienced in a lifetime. I am a world traveler and could not believe the high prices, limited sides choices, and small portions offered. I was completely disappointed and would not bring my best friend or parents in law to The Fireside in Hayward, WI. I ordered a NY strip that only offered four small puffs of fake potatoes, a backyard grouse salad with awful smelling vinaigrette blue cheese dressing, to top it all off, a pea sized loaf of bread was served for two with a whipped selection of gourmet butters the size of a dime. My mom 's wine was smaller than a whining baby 's butt. By the way don 't even ask for desert because you won 't want to pay the price. WHAT A JOKE. This is all very true, even though you might be laughing right now.
The restaurant is called The Fireside . Located 11 miles southeast of Hayward, WI, west on County Road K, in the Lac Courte Oreilles lake district, the Fireside is quite possibly the finest (hidden culinary gem) gourmet restaurant in Wisconsin. It was one of the best meals we have ever experienced. I say Experienced because it just that, a perfect experience. The setting, location, service, and the cuisine, just impeccable. We have had the opportunity to enjoy all types of cuisine, all over this great country, and in some of the finest restaurants of Chicago, Denver, and Boston. The new chef/owner displays an amazing culinary training, that rivals anything Chicago would have to offer. Reasonably priced, I would place it against any other restaurant Chicago has in an instant. I DEFINITELY would recommend checking it out if you are in the area.
