White Lion - Hebden Bridge

We were searching for a Sunday roast in the area and discovered that the White Lion offered one of the best options. The portions were generous and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly when it came to vegan options.

Previously, I had given The White Lion a two-star rating due to the limited and expensive vegan options. The veggie hotpot priced at £14 and the veggie burger at £12 were disappointing in terms of taste and value. Despite being told the burger could be made vegan and gluten-free, I was later informed that the bun was not vegan. I was still charged the full price for a burger without a bun, which was dry and lacking vegan cheese or sauce. The overall experience was underwhelming, especially considering Hebden's reputation as a vegan and gluten-free friendly destination. There are definitely better and more affordable dining options in Hebden.

There were three vegan mains which sounded good, I had the hotpot with fries which was really tasty and would definitely recommend. My family had veggie and meat dishes which were equally as good. Friendly and efficient staff. Well worth a visit.

Since the previous review the menu has been updated. There is only a salad (take off feta to be made vegan), a burger (take off the aioli to be vegan) or a hot pot as main meals. The burger was nice but definitely nothing special for £12. On top of this the service was very poor. We waited an hour for the food without warning that it would be a long wait. I wouldn't recommend. Much better places in hebden bridge for vegans.
