Meritalli - Helsinki

The food was very good we had a 3 course meal with family to celebrate a birthday. We sat on a sunny terrace with a fabulous view of the sea and the evening sun. Service quite slow, though. Took 2.5 hrs to get to desserts.

Excellent Finnish type of food on a nice sunny summer terrace by the sea. Local varieties, such as blackened whitefish, smoked salmon with mushrooms, fish soup and apple pie highly recommended!

I have eaten in the restaurant 3 times in a month and every time got wonderful food. Service is good and quick. Further, for once a restaurant that doesn’t use too much salt as most restaurants do. The location is lovely and terrace is right on the sea.

A big restaurant with a superb location by the sea. We were seated on the terrace by a very friendly and jokey gentleman. I chose Skagen with dark archipelago bread as a starter. It was very fresh and tasty and the portion was reasonably sized. As main course my wife took the fish of the day: arctic char with pumpkin puree, mushrooms and potatoes. My choice was Vorschmack with potatoes, cornichons and beetroots. Food was tasty, maybe the flavor of anchovy in Vorschmack could have been a bit stronger. Service was quick and friendly. The view is spectacular and the pricing reasonable: about 60 euros for three portions and one beer is ok. Recommendable place especially when the weather is fine.

Went here for lunch and ate on the terrace as the weather was beautiful. It was a Sunday, and they had brunch until 15.00, but we arrived at 14.50 and the funny thing was they wouldn’t take our order before 15.00 when they switched to the normal menu. We both had salmon soup which was OK but would have needed a bit more salt. There was a lot of personnel and the service was friendly.
