Bidra med feedbackLove this place. Very quaint local dive. Pub style food but, pizza was amazing. There were lots of ale and cocktail options. And let's be honest, anything Poe is amazing. Parking is tricky so, scope out options early
Such an incredible ambience. A must go. But really weak pours for their drinks. A martini: zero buzz or relaxation unless it?s straight liguor. Wine the other night: maybe a 1/4 of a glass for $16. Pretentious as all hell. Shine has way better cocktails. Most other places do. Please rock your great space with better drinks. I?ve heard other people say this also.
We loved our experience at The Poe House. Fun drinks and amazing food. Our service was outstanding as well. Edgar Allen Poe fans will appreciate the cool decor. Can?t wait to return.
We made reservations for tonight specifically to see Hope Griffin and so glad we did. Much like her name Hope brings Happiness to the arena and Faith that love will prevail. We were seated front center and as the evening hours darkened the studio lights filled in. Soon there was standing room only as the crowd was energized by her acoustic renditions of Stevie Nix, Simon and Garfunkel and yes, The Rolling Stones. The place was alive with friendly chatter and clinking glasses, the gourmet wine and craft beer selections are Poetent, but amid the spontaneous gaiety a sudden hush came over the crowd as Hope soared into her crescendo of Bruce Springsteen?s I?m on Fire. Total Silence as all ears and eyes were focused on Hope, who also became aware of the moment and whispered, I?ve got them now?It was a moment in a night of 44 years together that my wife and I will never forget. The vibe is much like the Village where places like the Cafe Wha? and the Vanguard hosted folkies like Robert Zimmerman before he became Bob Dylan. Hope Griffin is of that caliber. She covers better than the originals and her originals have depths of emotion worth exploring. Ask Siri to play Lullaby on Apple Music and we?ll look forward to seeing you at Hope?s next concert. Until then drop into the Poe House for your own night to remember.
(FYI we are from out of town so we are a true 3rd party review, not ranking it because it?s the best in town) My wife and I walked in at about 5:30 pm on a Wednesday night. We sat at the bar and we were customer #4 and 5. It took about ten minutes before the four people working acknowledged us. We ordered two drinks and two appetizers. I got a whisky style drink and it was terrible. My wife got a tequila drink and hers was lousy as well. The appetizers were good. We got a pizza and Brie cheese dish. The service continued to be terrible and we did not order another drink. If the drinks were good the prices would have been fair. They definitely did not have a mixologist create these drinks. We would not waste our time going there again.
