Samrat Tandoori - Highgate

Great food , friendly service, have been back many a time. Have taken many a friend there & all have been surprised by the quality of food for the price.

This is wrong, just wrong, this must be rectified. How is Samrats not the no. 1 reviewed restaurant on here? It is the tops, the b.dizzle.schnizzle. I don't bother getting my Indian from anywhere else because there is no point. A few doors down used to be the amazing vegetarian, southern Indian place also, the owner was super keen and really passionate about his food but it is just Samrats now. Samrats is enough for me. I do the spread more often then not. Samosa, couple of curries to choose from, kashmiri pulao rice (nutty and sultanarie), maybe some cottage cheese jobby, naan, etc. you get the point. I also get a mango lassi more often then not. 2000 calories later I am blotted and sad and questioning my life but I get over it, pick up the phone the next day and Samrats have got my usual ready again. FIVE STARS for what is essentially a take away place!!  I LOVE Samrats.  We've been going there for takeaway since we've lived nearby & we feel like we've hit a winner. Samrats is dine in - although I never have - but also very take-away.  Only a small shop, the service is incredibly lovely and friendly, the food is really affordable and to top it off, the food is SO TASTY.  I've had so many things off of the menu here, but the basics are just perfect.  Great Naan, amazing saffron rice with actual saffron and flavour, curries that never skimp on meat or deliciousness. Highly recommend to give them a go & if you live nearby, you've found your new Indian take out!! *YOU'RE WELCOME*.

I sometimes actually don't know how some places can charge upwards of $25 for what Samrats seem to do for $10 to $13. The locals agree. The place is never packed but it is never empty either. The room is tiny and kitsch but the food is great and it isn't super large and above all else they almost always seem to give you free papadums with every order.

Have been getting take away here for years, but decided to try eating in for a change.Went with the wife and kids. I haven't ever been to England, but this little restaurant is exactly how I would imagine "going for a curry" as you see on TV!!Appears to be family run, I don't we have ever had a bad feed from here. I had the Tandoori Leg of Lamb, medium. Was probably closer to mild, but was still delicious. Kids had the beef korma, and a butter chicken, which as always, disappeared. We also had our favourite Alo Ghobi vegetarian dish. Was quite busy with eat ins, and a steady stream of people coming in to pick up their take away. Pricing is cheap in comparison with other Indian Restaurants in the vicinity. Do yourself a favour and pop in a try them out!!
