Bidra med feedbackToday, we checked out the new food carts in Hillsboro and spoke to the same woman to confirm that everything on the menu was available. She seemed a bit nervous but assured us that it was. We ordered one dish, and when we tried to order two more, she told us they only had enough fries for one order and that we'd have to wait about 20 minutes for the rest. This was the second time we were unable to get fries, despite being the only customers in the food cart area. We had to repeat our order twice because I decided to add an empanada instead of waiting. When we finally placed our complete order, the woman asked us if we had cash in case she needed to fix something. We informed her that we only had cards, which led to us repeating the order for a third and fourth time because she assumed we would pay with cash and accidentally deleted the entry from her machine. By this point, I was quite frustrated. This was our second attempt to enjoy a full meal from this place, and they consistently failed to fulfill what they advertise. They also tried to have us pay with a method that we couldn't use at the time, which added to the annoyance. To top it off, the woman seemed dismissive when I expressed my concerns. It’s disappointing that despite how many customers they have, they don't offer a complete menu or have sufficient stock for everyone. Additionally, the dish we ordered was supposed to come with two empanadas, fries, and an Alfajor, none of which we received when we got home, yet we were still charged full price for everything. If the quality of food matched the expectations of customers, it could be a much better experience. Overall, I left feeling very disappointed.
I really enjoyed dining at Abuela Chona in the BG food cartel, but the last few times I tried to visit, they were closed. They were gone last weekend, and I felt disappointed that I couldn't share this amazing place with my partner. Fortunately, we figured out that they are just a block away from the Grand Lodge. Since we were heading to a concert, we decided to stop by for some empanadas, and they were even better than I remembered! I won’t wait until my next concert; I’ll be back in 40 minutes! See you soon, Abuela Chona!
Tony and Amy, the owners and chefs of Abuela Chona, are amazing people with an incredible product! Our entire family enjoys the delicious flavors and variety of their food, and the chimichurri adds a fantastic touch. We were disappointed when they moved from Beaverton to Forest Grove, but they made it easy for us by offering FROZEN BAKER's DOZEN! They also provided free delivery for the July 4th weekend, which I hope they continue, as it’s a unique offer. For us, it’s definitely worth the trip from Lake Oswego to pick up their frozen empanadas. The heating instructions are spot on, and we usually buy several dozen at a time for three to four meals. What’s more, they really listen to their customers. Their new online frozen order system is fantastic. When I placed my order and mentioned needing chimichurri, which wasn’t listed on the website, Tony personally replied to my email. In just an hour, he added that option, along with other choices. Impressive!
My husband I started with 1 chorizo empanada, just to try it, we went back for 6 more, including the spinach filled. Oh, so delicious! Beautiful crust tasteful fillings!
Very sweet service, and well spiced empanadas. Don?t miss out on the dessert!
