The Sugar Gum Hotel - Hillside

I was very disappointed with our dining experience at the Sugar Gum Hotel. the food was good but service let it down badly. firstly we had to ask for our drinks.. kids waited forever for their dessert, i had to go and ask for it. Same with mine and my husband dessert had to go and ask for it as she forgot about it. I would love to see a proper play area for children to play in where it doesnt cost money.Out of 10 i give it a 4.5

The SugarGum Hotel has Pokies, inside/outside Dining area, Bar, Drive through liquor, and function rooms..We dined in the evening, it's a family atmosphere, pretty basic. Menu is quite good and very reasonable priced. A Seniors menu is also available $14 for 2 course....this was our choice...7/10 for the price...couldn't complain.Staff were very pleasant and advised us to join a rewards membership at no cost, but gives you rewards.. we got a free drink on the night. This is a very basic "Pub" with "Pub" food & Pokies...may call in again when passing. Wouldn't make a special effort though.

I've been to this bistro and sportsbar a few times now.Quite an extensive menu in the bistro and average prices.If your not put off my TAB and blokeness the sportsbar has a great little menu at the half the cost of the bistro. Great Parma and sizes are good.

Very friendly staff, lovely meals delivered in a timely manner.. All staff were very friendly & helpful. Kids were given complimentary activity packs. Not a lot else to occupy pre-schoolers, that didn't require putting money into machines.

The pub's restaurant 'hard' acoustics are preventing it to be a good conversation place. I like it there anyway if it's not too busy.
