Nisshodo Candy Store - Honolulu

This is the best mochi shop in the world! I am obsessed with their chichi dango. Delicious!

This is an amazing spot to purchase Japanese chi chi dango and manju! It's located in a warehouse area surrounded by home improvement stores, close to HCC. They offer a wide range of fresh selections in many varieties. I absolutely love it!

Got the assorted packs and the Coconut, Green Tea, and Manju were favs. One of the best homemade mochi you can get in Honolulu!

I was initially surprised by the name "candy store," but Nisshodo turned out to have some of the best mochi I've ever tasted. Whenever I visit the island, I always make sure to stop by this place. Their chi chi dango, both plain (white and pink) and fruity (blueberry and orange), have a wonderfully soft and chewy texture. As a mochi lover with high standards, I can confidently say that Nisshodo meets them all. In addition to their traditional mochi, they also offer filled varieties like peanut butter (yellow), lilikoi (purple), green tea with red bean, and lychee (white). The prices are very reasonable as well. Don't be surprised by its location in an industrial lot - Nisshodo is a hidden gem for any mochi enthusiast.

Every time I return home, visiting this restaurant is a must for me. I absolutely adore their kuri manjuu and yokan maki. Today I learned that you must pre-order the yokan maki a week in advance, so I'll make sure to do that next time I'm back. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
