Bidra med feedbackDelicious!. Aside from the girl at the register who coulld use some customer service training, everything was delicious. No complaints except that the on-line menu needs updating earlier in the day than 10:30. We wanted the green tomato okra fritters but they did not have them. The jalapeno hushpuppies were to die for! Love the bright and cheery space! Look forward to going back.
A hard to dislike restaurant with great potential. Cute and clean decor (although somewhat small . This restaurant is hard to describe. It fits the description of a meat and three, but it reminds me of a diner, that meets a fast food joint that meets a hospital cafeteria. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean, with a cute and cohesive decor and seemingly efficiently run. If you like meat and threes you should definitely give it a try. <br/ Taste of the food: The food is usually tasty, but somewhat bland. One of my recent orders had mostly beige, white and tan foods. Mashed potatoes, country fried steak (which was really chopped steak and gravy , and butterbeans. Yes, I 'm the one who chose such bland in color dishes, but you see, the choices are somewhat lackluster and not exciting. I really didn 't have a lot of colorful options. They don 't offer a lot of bold and exciting choices and the portions are somewhat small. This is why the meal experience is not very exciting. <br/ The food that actually is good is very tasty, but I found myself adding salt and pepper on almost everything. They don 't use a lot of seasonings (like butter, etc. So if you 're looking for a healthy meat and three, this is the restaurant for you. The macaroni and cheese was not good at all. Nothing like we like it in the south. Breadcrumbs on top? No. Just no. Update:I went back on 03/16 and ordered the chopped steak. It was fatty and/or woefully undercooked. I could not tell which. The green beans and mashed potatoes however, were very tasty and well-seasoned and ultimately saved the meal for me. <br/ Anyway, overall, I think the restaurant has staying power. They just need to turn up the seasonings, sass and creativity. They play it so safely, that I feel as if I 'm about to nod off while eating most of their food. The fried chicken is very tasty (maybe some of the best I 've ever had . But their signature dish Fried Green Tomatoes weren 't really that good. I would give the Fried Green tomatoes (the dish a 5 or 6. The breading was like the like the breading on fast food fish fillets. Smooth and tan, without a lot of flavor. The tomatoes themselves were definitely green, fresh and sharp with the necessary fried green tomato 'bite '. But what happened to cornmeal with salt and pepper? <br/ <br/ The buttermilk pie was tasty and spot on, although the custard was not as firm as it could have been. I 've made that mistake myself when baking it. Back to the point, everyone has their own interpretation of recipes. This restaurant has some slightly different interpretations. I am not sure if it 's a regional thing or what. For example on 03/16, they served pineapple cobbler. It really wasn 't that good. It sounded like a great idea, I suppose, but somehow it didn 't come together. The filling wasn 't quite sweet and thick enough and had a slight aftertaste. I admire them for trying something new, however. <br/ <br/ The good news is: If they would stop trying to play it safe, add a few more seasonings, keep up the quality and not make any more technical errors (like my fatty undercooked chopped steak we might have another strong meat and three contender in the Birmingham market. However. they are right on the line. If the quality drops or they take any step backwards, I don 't see how they can complete in the Birmingham market that is already full of restaurants.
Fried chicken and Fried Green Tomatoes. The chicken breast were of the appropriate size and fried up nicely. The fried green tomatoes were the right amount of greenness and batter was nice. The fried green tomatoes needed salt for seasoning. Both the chicken and f g tomatoes were a bit oily and needed blotting before they left the kitchen. All the sides are very good. No frills, get your own plastic ware, serve yourself beverage, pick up your order when number called and seat yourself. Employees were very friendly and courteous. Needs window work to keep out the sun's glare. Outside seating available weather permitting. New location and getting up to speed. They will only get better. I recommend as you will enjoy the food. I will be back.
Was very good. I really needed a good meal. I had country fried steak, fried green tomatoes, turnip greens, an macaroni and cheese. Was outstanding. Buttermilk pie for dessert. It didn't disappoint like so many of these places do. Try it. I'm sure you will love it too.
The food was very good and locally sourced, which I was happy to see. My son had the meatloaf, I had the country fried steak and we both had the fried green tomatoes. I prefer fried green tomatoes with a corn meal crust, theirs is a flour based batter, so they were just ok to me. I will definitely eat there again.
