Bidra med feedbackWe ate dinner at the restaurant for four nights during the stay at the lodge. Apart from driving to Lake Louise, about 8 miles away, there are really no other alternatives. We were initially a bit worried about the limited menu choices, but we found the meals well prepared and tasteful for the majority. We especially liked the chicken dish we ordered more than once. The Moraine salad we ordered every night tasted fresh and tasteful and was another favorite of ours. Wine selection was also quite good. The waiting staff seems to be seasonal and comes from all over the world, and we enjoyed talking to them a lot. They were friendly and interesting, and they provided many good information about hiking in the area.
Wow! I had the best meal so far on this trip through the Canadian rockies. The waitress Kamila, who was so pleasant and helpful, told us about the specials. I had the Veal Chop prepared with Sous Vide, then pan meerte to medium rare. When I put the first bite in my mouth, I told my wife that the best tasting was meat I had ever tasted. I gave my wife a bite and she had the same opinion. I've eaten steak in many nice restaurants, plus I'm a pretty good steak cook myself, but I've never seen anything like that before. Call and ask for the special features and if the Veal Chop is available, make your reservation ASAP. And to round it off, they bring a basket of bread with butter, lemon pesto and olive oil with balsamico vinegar to dive. I could have eaten it. We ate everything, so the waitress brought another bread basket and dives. We spend the night at the lodge, so I can't wait for breakfast! I'll update you tomorrow.
Restaurant at Lake Moraine Lodge! We had dinner here on two consecutive nights and there was a difference. The first evening meal started well with an amuse bouche, consisting of a part of hummus and pesto with, for us, an unusual white but tasty bread. The baked Brie star we shared was also pretty good. But then that was when the good pieces were finished. We both went with the lamb frame, the meat itself was good, but there was so much fat that the amount of meat was dramatically reduced. The delivered jus needed further reduction while there was still further reduced, while there was a significant lack of spices. A Canadian Cabernet Sauvignon was a plus. The second night came with the same Amuse Bouche, which was good again. The starter this time and again was divided foie gras on brioche with mushrooms, a sprinkling of cheese and some green leaves. Very delicious. Then on the main course surfing and lawn from good quality beef and shrimp with a good selection of vegetables. We really enjoyed it and it was a big step up from the previous night main. The selected wine was also good! The staff was attentive and friendly in both nights, but, as noted at lunch in Canada, meals are not cheap!
We enjoyed the beautiful view, but were disappointed with the meal. This is a highly rated restaurant with a good menu selection. One of us had a rack of lamb that was fair and had the other Halibut that was over boiled and dry. The waitress was nice enough to take the Halibut out of the bill.
We were fortunate to spend two nights at Lake Moraine Lodge for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was an absolute delight. The location was stunning, the service was fabulous, the food was wonderful, and the hiking was great. Nothing was too much trouble, and the general manager even found us a kettle to make tea in our room. The berry crunch dessert was so delicious that I even had it for breakfast. It was a wonderful experience in every way and possibly the best hotel experience we've ever had. We didn't want to leave! Thank you to everyone at Lake Moraine Lodge. We would love to return one day and stay for a longer period.
