Bidra med feedbackLots of options to choose from, they even have Indo-Chinese which is a favorite of mine. The food was good, in my opinion I wish it was more spicy, but overall it was enjoyable.
This has become our favorite place for Indian. Especially for the Sunday afternoon buffet. They have a great selection of options, which is a great introduction for those who may not be familiar with Indian food. There really isn't anything on the buffet that I would stay away from. I think that most anyone would enjoy the flavors of these dishes, even if you can't pronounce the name of them : I like the goat Curry but my wife doesn't care for the flavor of the meat.
We came here with another couple who are vegetarian and I am pleased to say that I enjoyed a great vegetarian meal (they have meat options as well). The paneer pakora, veg biriyani, chili paneer and malai kofta were all delicious! If you have a craving for Indian food, this is the place to go.
Sooooo, here's the thing, don't seat me, bring me water, take my order, then come back 10 minutes later and tell me the kitchen is closed...THEN offer me left over old dry food from the buffet. THIS IS NOT OKAY. I'm unimpressed with the level of service that this establishment provided. It's easy to inform the patron that the kitchen will be closing shortly, but instead, you'd prefer to get us comfortable in hopes that we would change our mind and eat from a buffet. If I wanted a buffet, I would've ordered a buffet. The food on the buffet looked dryer than jerky. The food was cooked and heated over hours. I wanted fresh food. Thank you for not providing that. First impressions are everything. This was not a good first impression.
I have been here many times over the years and recently came back and the name has changed from Amber to Royal Indian. Other than that the space, the people, and the food still look the same. We came in for dinner and ordered the vegetarian appetizer plate to share as well as two entrees and garlic naan. The Chicken Tikka Masala (Tikka cooked with onion, tomato sauce medium spices) was amazing as usual. Melt in your mouth a little bit of heaven on rice. The Tandoori Shrimp (Jumbo Shrimp seasoned with fresh spices and herbs, grilled in the Tandoor) we okey dokey but compared to the tikka masala was not in the same ball park! The garlic naan came out hot and made to perfection. Perfect dinner for a cold night in Indy!
