The Duck - Isle of Wight

Couldn’t book for Valentines, so we had our special night early this year. We had our first ‘date’ at The Duck a few years back and it seemed appropriate to celebrate our time together. We both had fabulous meals. Service and atmosphere were great. I had the Duck Confit Burger, which was excellent. My partner enjoyed the Chicken Schnitzel. Desserts were light and tasty and a great way to finish our meal. Thanks a million Charlie, Helen plus the kitchen and FOH crews.

How on earth can can something so simple taste so out of this world! From the innocence of a side potato dish, or rare steak, to the flamboyance of a creme brûlée with berries, or sticky toffee pudding, the combination of flavours is perfection, and oh so delicious. We had a family dinner for our son's birthday and were beautifully hosted by Helen, with Charlie making the magic in the kitchen. If you are visiting Ryde, IoW, you must not miss a meal at the Duck. It is something unusually close to perfection and oh so, so delicious.

My second visit to the duck and like the first I was not disappointed. The service and the food were near perfect. The cost was amazing for 3 course meal and a drink. Well worth the ferry journey across to enjoy such exquisite cuisine.

This is a great place for a special occasion, nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Our mains were perfect and the cocktails delicious. I found the desserts a little style over substance so would choose a starter or cocktail and main next time and forego dessert.

The staff were friendly the right balance of attentive and low key. The décor is fresh and contemporary. And the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
