Shadman - Jersey City

Our visit to this lively and charming Pakistani hidden gem was the highlight of our family's trip to NYC/Jersey City. As South Asians, we can be quite reserved, but our server Charita was friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. She shared interesting facts and recommended the delicious Gajar ka halwa as her favorite dessert. I wish every server was as energetic and personable as her. Everyone in our group agreed that every dish was prepared perfectly, from the Chapli Kabob to the Karahi to the kheer that brought back memories of Karachi for my mother. Overall, we had a delightful and unforgettable dining experience.

I went to this restaurant with a group of 4 friends and had an amazing meal. It is definitely some of the best fast casual Indian food I have ever had in Jersey City, and it is also one of the best values in the area. I now make the trip on the PATH train from Manhattan on a weekly basis just to eat here. Some must-try dishes based on our experience include: 1) Kheer (the rice pudding dessert was amazing, everyone at my table wanted seconds) 2) Nihari (the bone marrow stew was thick, rich, and flavorful) 3) Tandoori chicken (fresh and flavorful, especially when paired with garlic naan) 4) Chana (just the right amount of spice to go well with keema naan)

This restaurant is fantastic. The only downside is that if you pay with a debit or credit card, they add a service fee for the customer, rather than the owner.

Have been going here past 14 years and its my all time favorite. I dont live in NJ anymore but whenever I visit NJ i make sure i eat a meal there. My favorite is chicken seekh kabab, achari chicken, halwa puri, chicken karhai and bihari kabab. But i have tried all the menu and everything is best. Delicious kheer cant forget.
