Shoney's - Johnson City

The experience started off well, but unfortunately, it took a turn for the worse. Our drinks were served 20 minutes before we left, and my 4-year-old daughter only had the salad. Later, she began vomiting and is now running a high fever. The doctor suspects it's food poisoning. Please be cautious about letting your little ones eat here; I've learned my lesson.

1. Our waitress seemed indifferent to her customers. We waited 10 minutes just to get assistance, and then another 15 minutes for our drinks. 2. My 4-year-old daughter ate a salad and ended up getting food poisoning. While we were eating, she vomited, and her condition worsened hours later. The next day, she was even sicker than before. I only had a couple of bites of the salad, and it didn’t taste right. I feel terrible for letting her eat it! 3. Our dishes were not properly cleaned. My son’s fork still had red lipstick on it, and our plates had leftover food on them. I advise you to think twice before eating here; you've been warned!

The restaurant wasn't fancy, but it offered a quick bite with basic options. I really appreciated how clean it was. The food was hot, fresh, and well-presented. I chose a salad from the salad bar and a veggie plate. While the selection wasn’t extensive, that was fine for me since I was just looking for something quick and close by. The cleanliness was what mattered most to me at a buffet, and it definitely met that expectation.

Bad communication between front of the house and the servers. Our server didn't even know we had been sat down until she went to clean a table and saw us. I got the French toast with strawberries, the French toast was amazing but the strawberries were mushy and had an extremely strong smell that my husband could smell from across the table. I've never eaten there before so I don't know if they were just having a bad day or what but I will probably not be going back.

I should have known better to go in, considering there were very few cars in the parking lot. The only thing that was good, was the salad bar and fried chicken. I paid almost $20, I feel like I was robbed and I learned my lesson. First time in a Shoneys in 40 years, back in the day it was incredible. A lot of the food looked like it was leftover from the day before and tasted like it. I hope this doesn't make me sick later.
