Bidra med feedbackUpon entering Gaslamp, your first impression will likely be one of a dimly lit but cozy space, featuring less than 20 seats. Don't hesitate to use your phone's light to read the menu because the low lighting makes it quite difficult to see. Our waiter, Merit, was a great source of humor, enhancing our dining experience, while Clark, the bartender, provided excellent service. Together, they contributed to a lovely evening. We started with a few rounds of drinks, and I highly recommend trying the unforgettable "One Trick Pony" and "Mother Mayhem"—both fantastic options. While the drinks were delightful, be prepared for the prices; nothing on Gaslamp's menu is inexpensive, so keep your wallet ready. The ambiance was further enriched by live entertainment, featuring a talented jazz saxophonist whose music perfectly suited the venue's vibe. For appetizers, we ordered Diver Deep Scallops and Caviar Bump, both of which were outstanding. The Caviar Bump came with a shot of Yellow Chartreuse Liqueur, and the bartenders joined us in enjoying the bumps, adding to the festive atmosphere. For our main courses, we had the King Arthur Beef Wellington, Ribeye, Steak Diane, and Lobster Risotto. I found the crab in the King Arthur Beef Wellington a bit tricky to eat, so I passed that portion along to someone else. As for the ribeye, it was decent but didn't meet the higher expectations I had for a place like Gaslamp. However, the Beef Wellington, Steak Diane, and Lobster Risotto were all very enjoyable. In summary, Gaslamp offers: - Overall Quality: Very good - Service: Excellent - Appetizers: Very good - Entrée: Fair to Good - Dining Experience: Very good Unlike a conventional restaurant, Gaslamp presents a distinctive and entertaining culinary adventure that is definitely worth a visit.
I would have loved to try the food at this restaurant, but the staff I encountered were either incredibly rude or simply unprofessional. It’s hard to understand how they manage to stay in business, and their attitudes came off as quite prejudiced. When I was inside, their facial expressions suggested they were either annoyed by customers or just unhappy to be working there. Our family will never give them our business again. Typically, when we dine out, we spend between $80 and $100 due to our size, and we always tip 20%, even for mediocre service. We dress well when going out, but they had the audacity to turn us away. Located in the heart of Kailua, a laid-back beach town, it’s foolish of them to turn away potential customers.
Surprises my husband with dinner reservations here as late Valentine's Day's celebration! We dressed, drove by Ewa Beach on a cold rainy night and went to Kailua Town Pub and Grill. Cute place, but the man was confused, why we were the best dressed people in Lol room We went to the back of the restaurant to what looked like a phone booth, where a hostess asked for the password. Once given, she went to Gaslamp, where there are only a few cozy tables in an illuminated, intimate room with a small but impressive bar and a live saxophonist who play over us in the loft area. We had oysters and a burrata salad for appetizers and shared the French laundry carved table side, asparagus and Mac cheese for our main course. Everything was delicious, but I'll say for $195, the steak could have been cut thinner than in four unpleasant large sections that we still had to cut lol Just Sayin '! Haha The ambience was fun and sexy, although and service was great thanks for a great experience! We would like to come back with friends soon and try some more of this fantastic cocktail menu!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!Located inside of Kailua Town Pub Grill, parking shouldn't be a problem. It's a shared lot with the other businesses here. Go inside the pub, straight to the back, and the speakeasy awaits.Ambiance is intimate and romantic. Dimly lit and decor that lives up to the fact that it's a speakeasy. The walls are lined with old books (I'm a sucker for that) and the vintage chandeliers are gorgeous. And the kicker? There is a second floor with a solo musician pumping out the best jams on his sax and flute. On the night we went, he knew his audience. We were all groovin' and singing along to the classic love songs. Hats off.The service is flawless. Our server was so very attentive without being overbearing at all. He genuinely wanted to help explain everything we had questions about, and was knowledgeable about both the food and drinks. His sincerity and impeccable service are of note. I wish I remembered his name. Now what you came for: the food and drinks. Epic. We ordered the one trick pony (twice) because it was a solid drink. The smokey effect was pretty cool, yes, but also the presentation and taste were equally wow. I ordered the Side Ewok and asked if it could be made with less alcohol content, and the bartender sure delivered! I can't stop raving about how aesthetically beautiful this cocktail was, bright, punchy flavors, and just the right amount of alcohol so I could enjoy it without getting crazy. For the food, we ordered the King Arthur, which came with snow crab claws soaked in garlic butter sauce and their famous Beef Wellington. HOLY SMOKES. The sauce the crab was drenched in was probably one of the best garlic butter concoctions I've ever had in my life. In hindsight, we should have kept the leftover sauce to dip everything else in, or I probably should've bathed in it, but now I know for next time. The Beef Wellington was cooked a perfect medium--the pastry was crispy and flakey, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I kept the sauce on the side (rather than poured all over) and dip-dipped. The mushroom duxelles that encased the beef was also a perfect 10/10. My husband ordered the Crab Crusted Opakapaka and this dish was also amazing. The sauce you pour all over this was also divine. We wished we had more of it. We also ordered the garlic truffle fries and panko crusted mac cheese as accompaniments, and again, delicious. For dessert, we ordered the lilikoi cheesecake and we crushed that, too. It was such a nice balance of creaminess from the cheesecake, tartness from the lilikoi and fresh berries, and crunch from the crushed oreos (I think), and the cold sweetness fro the salted caramel ice cream were all the perfect symphony and ending to our romantic evening.Verdict: Expensive but absolutely, positively worth every penny.
I think I have been to Gaslamp at least 3 times now and its always amazing. Who would have thought that tucked in the back of the pub would be a dark vibey little speakeasy with great food. We've had just about everything on the menu but our favorites are definitely the crab crusted opakapaka, the king Arthur (beef wellington snow crab claws, and the diver sea scallops. Pro Tip If you just want the beef wellington and not the entire king Arthur deal, you can order it ala carte! Cocktails are also really good and unique. The bartenders and servers kill it and are really helpful with any questions or suggestions. One downfall is the time limit! But totally makes sense with the speakeasy vibe, gotta get the next reservations sat. Make sure to make your reservations early as they fill up fast!
