9th Island Sports And Grill - Kapaa

We had a strange and not super pleasant experience here. We were greeted right away and our waitress had menus to us as soon as we sat down, which was awesome. I ordered a whiskey coke and it quickly arrived. It was definitely not a whiskey coke. From what I could figure, it was tequila and whiskey with a splash of coke. Strange but I drank it...because...well, it was going to do the job. We ordered the steak dinner and the Cuban sandwich with a side of ranch. When it arrived it looked like something that might come out of your kitchen at home. The steak was cheap but not terrible and the A 1 sauce had been watered down so it can splashing out of the bottle. Just weird. The sandwich was ok, again, something you might make at home.I had to ask again for the side of ranch I had ordered. We then asked for ice water, and had to ask again in about 15 minutes because it was forgotten. The server was friendly, but not on it. When the check arrived it had an extra drink on it, which was quickly removed when I pointed it out. Overall, edible food but would not recommend it.

Very loud. Serves food late, which was good for us tonight. Burgers, some steaks, other sandwiches. Opted for chicken fried steak. Service was friendly but incompetent. Server appeared to be either high or drunk. Not falling down, but the eyes and mannerisms seemed pretty obvious. Couldn't even read her own order pad and had to ask again what I ordered. Then delivered the salad to the wrong person. Mashed potatoes were as boring as any I've ever had. Not bad, really, but mostly flavorless. Added lots of salt and pepper. Chicken fried steak was good. Tried the fries others got and they were unseasoned, but cooked perfectly and pretty good. Also tried a fish taco and it was good. I'm told the teriyaki chicken, and fish and chips were good too, but I didn't try. I would rate my meal two stars, but others liked theirs more and I agree the ones I sampled were good. So I will go for three here. The fish tacos were a solid 3.5 or 4 for sure. I also have to deduct for the hazy server.

Great place to watch sports and eat better than usual bar food. We had good service and great views of the games we wanted to watch. The place has a laid back local feel to it. We both enjoyed our onion ring appetizer, which tasted freshly breaded. I had the shrimp and avocado salad, which was fresh and flavorful, as well as being a generous size. I highly recommend the house made balsamic dressing. My husband had the fish and chips. When they get 2 thumbs up from a Scottish man, you know they are good. Local beers on tap satisfied our thirst. Bottom line is its a good place to have a drink or meal if you are passing through.

First place the wife and I visited after arriving. I was curious why so many Las Vegas props around and John, the bartender, informed me that You know, there are 8 Islands on Hawaii right? I quickly recited the names of the islands on my head and counted about 6 and couldn 't remember the other two, so I took his word for it and replied in the affirmative. Well many Hawaiians live and visit Las Vegas, so the owner lived(s) in Las Vegas. Hence the Vegas props and the name of the bar 9th Island Sports Bar. Boom. It all made sense. As someone who enjoys Vegas, it was an awesome surprise and it was cool to see the Golden Knights (hockey team) represented all the way in Kauai. We order some food and it was very much passable. We arrived during happy hour so the beers were priced reasonably. When I visit Kauai again, I will be stopping by for sure! Go Knights!

Best TACOS on the entire island Atmosphere is fun and very Aloha spirit Margaritas are fantastic The bartender Amber and servers are so so cute and fun But most of all I love all the sports Tv All FOOTBALL GAMES ARE ON BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIRECT The food, all of it is homemade, Large portions Delicious chicken fried steak Hamburger huge and hot fries Rueben sandwich. Fish and chips AND THE BREAKFAST PANCAKES EGGS BACON SAUSAGE YES BISCUITS AND GRAVY if you need some good food go to 9th island BEST FOOD AND DRINKS ON THE ISLAND OF KAUAI
